What do you guys think? Cause I really don't know . . . I played Halo: Reach and it was great but it wasn't like something that would make me play it for 10 hours straight . . .
Its unique and has good competetive capabilities. I didn't like reach that much, but games like halo 3 and halo CE haved changed the way video games are made.
Halo has always been a unique, competitive, and quality experience. It has a solid single player campaign set in a massive universe that rivals the best that any form of sci-fi entertainment has to offer. It's multi player is unlike anything else that I personally have played. It's balanced, polished, fun, and about as competitive as it gets. I think among Xbox gamers it get's the praise it deserves. But outside of that it gets a lot of undeserved hate.
Something can only be overhyped if you buy into that hype. I don't expect anything from any game. I go into it and judge it on its own merits; not what I expected it to be because I heard it from someone or read it somewhere. So no, I wouldn't say the Halo games are overhyped. It's dumb to pre-judge something, based on second hand information.
It's definitely overhyped by Microsoft, but I love the series anyways. As for playing 10 hours straight, that's pretty unhealthy, don't think I would do it for any game.
reach is overhyped multiplayer has many issues including crappy forge maps but dont get me wrong i love this game it is great
halo 3 is in my opinion amazing best multiplayer maps, has good custom games, campaign has a arcadey feel that never made me bored so IMO i do not find this game overrated
overhyped. Kids who loved the original games and want to believe that reach/halo 3 were nearly as good when that's the furthest from the truth. by today's standards it's a good game, but not great.
If your only time spent with the halo series was Reach, your opinion might be a little inexperienced... The games were all very well made and challenging, with a pretty cool sci-fi setting and story. I like any game that can challenge me on Hard mode without resulting to cheap kills, and i always found Halo to be well balanced in that respect. Thats to say nothing of the online aspect, which i have very little experience in myself!
The multiplayer is a lot of fun and it's got a lot of interesting mechanics to it and is pretty balanced. I think most Halo fans are just overhyping it because of the multiplayer.

But the question was if it was overhyped, I think he means by the community, not yourself personally. I definitely think the entire series is overhyped. That said, they do have some of the more challenging AI's I've seen so far. Something I find lacking in allot of shooters.
overhypd maybe, still a god game and always has included tons of stuff in their games, it's not y favorite game on te 360 but still Halo 3 and halo Reach had great things going on
Halo MP was multiplayer KING until around MW2. Eventually people stopped playing Halo for MW2 and for Black Ops, and the Halo community started dieing and it was a lost formula. Halo is a great game of its own, but people are so use to Call Of Duty that they wont accept it. Man how i miss those days when Halo 2 and Halo 3 were in their primes. Those were the days when i had a blast playing online. Now its just a dull experience with no communication.
It is overhyped imo. I loved CE and Halo 2 but Halo 3, ODST and Reach all bored me... especially the MP. Halo 2's MP is my favorite of all time, though, and CE was amazing at its time of release. Still play it sometimes.
The series has a lot of fanboys and a lot of haters, the quality is somewhere right in the middle. The original trilogy remain to be the best for me, and I do think that it is one of the best if not the best FPS franchise out there
halo is great until they added lame ability's trying be like perks...
i played halo 3/4+ of my gaming time in halo halo 1 to halo 2 to halo 3 to halo odst. pulling all nighters / 5-10hrs sit downs everything. but when halo reach came out i can only play 2-4 games before i'm bored of it...like 4real all the way up till halo reach came out i was doing 3-6hrs easy every day on halo 3....
Now when i pop it in i will only play team cIassic or i won't play

Halo 4 already disapointing me. in the trailer he used a jetpack... so we see how that goes. i but it day one.
halo CE remake... if it dont have matchmaking mp for it then = no buy for me MP is what makes halo
The first Halo's were not overhyped cause they were new and original, but the last few are definetly overhyped. They are good games but nothing really special anymore. Personally i've never really cared about the Halo series.
I don't understand all of the hate for Reach. It's a fantastic game. They tried to do something different. It worked, for the most part. I do not like the Armor Abilities.. But they are rather balanced.
