Well this message is for the people who care about thier 360 and even if you dont believe it, its just a warning of what could

happen

Bull! I CAN CONFIRM THAT THERE INDEED IS A XBOX 360 VIRUS!!!

The only way to get any virus on your 360 is through the media center outlet.

This is how,You go and install the internet explorer on your media center on your pc and this will allow you to

browse the internet on your 360....It is slow internet but it works, But this directly connects you to the web were you can get

all kinds of crap. How do i know this ? I did it....

A cuple days after I installed it i was browsing the web,"Nude websites and such are so temping"and my xbox began to do VERY

strange things...Such as It would refuse to load ANY THING from my hard drive. Oh and my xbox 360 is brand new and I would have it on

no longer than 10 min so OVERHEATING is not the problem. So For example I would start to play halo3 and it would say that all my

progress in the game was gone, like i never beat the game, never gotten all the skulls, the only reason why it said i did anything cause

xbox live still keeps track of your achievements , but my xbox said i did nothing that i have previously did in any game...All my media was fried, couldnt open any of my movies and music that i downloaded from live.

my themes were scrambled the pictures on the desktops were all in the worng place...I called xbox support and they had no idea what was wrong, they were going to send me a new hard drive, which would take

2 weeks to send.AND I NEED TO PLAY HALO NOW!!!!so..

Instead i reformated my hard drive and everything was fine...after that, the 360 worked again, just like if you were to have a

virus on your pc and you reformat it.

scary...

Hmmm...sounds like theres a virus to me,any one who says there is no xbox virus is stupid and have no idea what they are talking

about.

Sorry, but your 360 is just screwed, it's not a virus. I see no confirmation in any of your assumptions.

I don't see how this is a 360 virus, convinent timing, maybe. Unless that site you went on really hated the 360, they wouldnt embed a virus for the 360 on it. Viruses are ment for PCs almost all of the time. I think you just did something wrong to it. Somehow.

I dont see why this wouldnt be a virus? ACts just like one, Screws with all your files, you enventurally cant do anything, but the when you reformat it everything is ok? If my xbox was just screwed wouldnt i still be having problems right now even after i reformated my hard drive? Would my xbox still not work OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING GOT ONTO MY HARD DRIVE FROM THE INTERNET AND CORUPTED EVERYTHING. Oh wait did i just describe what a virus does???

Hey all i can say is I love my 360 and I'm just warning youall about what the xbox 360 media center outlet can do, Hell pretty soon were gonna start seeing viruses on the wii or playstation 3, Acturally them more than the 360 becuase they imediately allow you to browse the web.

I'm pretty sure the "OS" on the 360 wouldn't be affected by or even be able to receive internet viruses. Period.

Have you ever considered that this might just be the result of your screwing around with your 360's operating system? You should be happy that crap you pulled didn't void your warranty.

How about nonexistant virus. Honestly, if there was a virus that could somehow magically be transmitted via Media Connect to your 360, do you really think this dude would be the first person that it would have happened to? It's bogus.

Again, show us some solid proof of this virus, (you did claim that you could CONFIRM it), and I'm sure everyone will be appreciative for the head's up. But again, no one at any point has proven that they have gotten an internet virus on their 360 & since you have no proof whatsoever to back up your claims, I'm not taking it as fact.

You can make a virus for any type of OS windows/mac/linux/xbox os doesn't matter. Obvious something happend to his xbox. People act like nothing can happen to xbox and defend it too much.

Just like When I got 360 and said it was running too hot and freezing all the time people were like you had to of did somthing to it well what would you know 360 did have a heating problem.

mmmmmk, we are talking about Microsoft here, no OS is totally free from getting something that its not suppose too. period. quit thinking the xbox is indestructible, yea it might not be a virus that caused all hes mayhem but what ever infromatinon he got from those sites just might not be compatible with xbox there for crashing hes system.

NOTE: the xbox is nothing more then a computer with a simplified MS OS that has no kind of protection from the uber geeks that can create virus that can bring down mainframes, you have to think the xbox was not designed to surf the web it is ment to only connect to other xbox's through MS servers, when you go outside that box "via" the Internet anything can happen i suppose

I failed to see how this can be possible. I mean Media Center Connect only "stream" content to your client machine, but the client machine never execute the content if I remembered correctly.magicalclick

Streaming is downloading the file, executing it, then deleting the file afterwards. It can still happen, just the inital file will be gone. (But not all the crap it did before that) I'm curious as to if its possible for a regular pc virus to go on a 360, the programming is rather similar, but the OS is diffierent... Well, I doubt a regular PC virus could affect s 360, but anyhtings possible.

yeah, you went on a site, and they knew that you would be browsing on your xbox, so they made a special xbox compatable virus just for you, then you got it.

I call bull****. With the Media Center Extender you are basically running a remote session of Media Center on your 360 from your PC. Basically, if you got a virus it's on your PC not your 360. If you have a virus on your 360 you've been doing more than just browsing the net through Media Center.

Do applications in MediaCenter run on the XBox 360 or on the MediaCenter PC?

Applications run on the MediaCenter PC and have their UI remoted to the XBox 360 via technology similar to a Remote Desktop Connection / Terminal Server. No code from the application actually runs on the XBox 360, therefore the XBox 360 is safe and secure from a malware / virus perspective.

This is crap. He probably did something to his Xbox that he's not mentioning and claiming that it was Media Center. I don't see how you would get a virus for streaming, and I don't see why this website would have an Xbox specific virus on it.

If it was a virus reformating the hdd wouldnt help, The 360s software runs off the 360 not the hdd like on computers. the virus would have to be on the 360.

sorry dude but I'm afraid all thats happened here is your xbox has given up the ghost and you cant accept it ... or youre just attention seeking there is no such virus that attacks the 360. Viruses can be made to attack the console but since its a difference OS architecture to your usual pc its not really worth the effort in the long run
