I have DSL, and if no one's on my Internet connection, I get about 650 kB/s download. It's not Verizon FiOS, but it'll do.

Lol, the poll's fine - it's just some people aren't aware of the difference (bit vs. byte). Speed tests, like speedtest.net and others, give primary results in Kbps.
And wow, you're lucky - Canadians get absolutely milked. We have pretty slow connections (generally), and the faster packages aren't really that fast, have ridiculous caps (like 60 GB/month), and cost insane amounts of money.
My Internet alone costs $55 CAD for the speed I mentioned before.
