Hello folks.

I decided to buy a Xbox 360 and now must decide wich games to buy.

I'm not swimming in cash after the console purchase, so please help me :)

The games I already know I'll grab:

Gears of War

Bioshock

C&C3

Viva PiƱata

DiRT

So I'd like to stay clear of games like Halo3 or other 1st/3rp person shooters for now.

So, please name:

1 3D fighting game

1 2D fighting game

1 to 3 RPGs

1 "other"

Other than that, I'd love if you cold say "dont buy one from your list, this one is better" with arguments to base it.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

I would honestly recommend Bioshock strongly, but not as a purchase, but a rental. And in it's place, I would have you get The Orange Box. My arguement is that Bioshock is fairly short, and it is Single Player only. You can beat it in a weekend, but The Orange Box comes with 5 amazing FPS games. Portal is a hilarious first person puzzle game that anyone can enjoy, and Half Life 2 is one of the greatest games of all time. Add in 2 great expansion packs, and an amazing team multiplayer game, and you have one hell of a deal.

Dont play fighting games, but give Obilvion (RPG) game of the year edition a go you wont regret it (also you must be aware that Bioshock is a FPS and GOW is a 3rd person shooter)

for a 3D fighting game I'd say Dead or Alive 4 or Virtua Fighter 5, a 2D fighting game you'd be safe with Street Fighter from XBox Live Arcade, and other I'd pick a dark horse like Looney Tunes Acme Arsenal and get Bioshock you wont be sorry

nice list but... you have to buy the Orange Box, even if that means skipping out on halo 3 or bioshock, anyway heres a list of some must buy games:

Forza Motorsport 2, you should try to use ebay, its really easy to sign up and simple to use plus you save a ton of money, I just bought Forza 2 and it came with Marvel ultimate Alliance in a bundle for $32 canadian(including shipping) both are great games

Bioshock you can buy cheap on eaby too, I paid around $40-45 brand new

I dont know if your into sports or not but NHL 2008 is the best sport game ever made, seriously

Call of Duty 4 is coming out in about 2 weeks, its better then halo 3's muiltiplayer imo

Skate, GRAW 2, Oblivion, PGR4, Guitar Hero are all good buys too

Agreed!!! I would also suggest GRAW 1....the game is still awsome and you can get it DIRT cheap now.

Coldsteel 001 - What I meant is - I'm already grabbin 2 games in the "FPD/3rdPS" slot :)

Ok, so I'll grab the orange box (skipped it causa I have the basic HL2 for PC, but sound like a good deal rly).

As a 3d fighter I think I'll wait for VF5, videos are rly cool.

Jamie_1987, I don't like sports games, but thx :)

So, updated list:

Orange Box

Gears of War

Bioshock

Oblivion

C&C3

Viva PiƱata

DiRT

Virtua Fighter 5

Any newer/better 2D fighting game than SF2 from live arcade? What about 1 or 2 more "traditional" RPGs (non-1st person)?

Thanks again!

If you are looking for a tradintional RPG try either Eternal Sonata or Blue Dragon. Or wait until next month to pick up Mass Effect.

Good list my suggestions for you would be

RPG: Eternal Sonata(Great),

Blue Dragon(very Very traditional JRPG if you like that you'll love this)

Enchanted Arms(story's fine, graphics look great, battle system is awesome but the voice acting sucks)

For the Dark Hore: Dead Rising (awesome game so much fun)

Condemned Criminal Origins (very creepy game also fun)

Crackdown (one of the best games i have played and extremely underrated)

I've been reading, I think I'll really like Eternal Sonata (even tough I HATE love triangle stories).

So, here's the "almost" final list:

RTS: C&C3

FPS: Orange Box

3rdPS: Gears of War

RPG: Oblivion

JRPG: Eternal Sonata

3D Fighting: Virtua Fighter 5

2D Fighting: Anything better/newer than SF2 here?

Racing: DiRT

Other: Bioshock, Viva PiƱata, Ace Combat 6

Next batch:

Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Soul Calibur 4

So, anything TOO wrong about that list? Other than that, any must have multiplayer game (to play with friends in my house, not over the Live!)

Thanks a bunch for yer time :)

if I were you i wouldn't buy bioshock... it is an awesome game but after beating it and having a good time doing so... i don't seem to want to go back and play it again... my friends feel the same way... the only real reason to go back and do it again is for achievements and thats a really bad reason for replaying a game... you should go back and play through for that and for fun... it is more of a rent title...

for third person shooter... i recomend saints row... especially if you like gta games... I also recomend dead rising like the guy earlier stated... that is a very fun game...

for rpg... oblivion is a must... that game is almost never ending... even after you go through the entire campaing... there are several guilds with almost just as many missions and dozens of side quests... plas the marketplace is full of free content with new caves and dungeons plus several new campaigns like shivering isles which is practically a whole new campaign...
