I know this sounds dumb, but I never bought Halo 3 since I haven't played any previous ones and when I got my 360 last year there were so many good games I never bothered to buy Halo. But now ODST is coming out and it looks pretty good, so I was wondering if I should get Halo before that comes out just to see what it's like or if i'm missing out on a good game.

its a good game, but if u want it for multiplayer than wait for ODST to come out, otherwise u will be shelling out another $20+ for the map packs to play all the different matchmaking modes

You should both get it. Halo 3's multiplayer is going to be around for a VERY long time, and though it's single player is nothing to jump and scream about, it's an enjoyable aspect of the game that although isn't up to par with the other parts of the game, is still enough to not warrant a reason to not buy the game.

The issue of the map packs is something else though. If you do care about the map packs and the way they limit what you can play online, and are willing to wait 3 months to be able to get all of those maps on one disc, then I guess waiting for ODST would be logical. With ODST considered, Halo 3 is still a great game that I recommend getting.

If you havent played the previous halos then you should not buy it. Why? if you care for the mp just wait for odst, it brings all the map packs for halo3 including 3 new ones.

If you want to get it for the multiplayer, maybe you should also consider L4D. The game still has a good amount of players and its very fun to play it. Up to my knowledge, Halo 3 ODST will feature the same multiplayer as Halo 3, so you might as well wait for it.

Halo CE had great gameplay, in halo2 got some tweaks to it, same with halo3 and the formula was kept the same because it was already that good. cod4 is great too if you want it OP. and you said its worth but..but what? :P

Yes if you are under 25 maybe. I'm 30 and Halo does nothing for me. I enjoy sniper rifles and one shot kills. Halo, like I keep saying is too cartoonish and un- realistic for me. That's why it doesn't get my vote, and compared to COD 4 and 5 KZ2 and even Microsofts Gears of War series its garbage IMHO. I laughed my AO when I played Halo 3 after playing the titles mentioned above. I was like are you kidding. Who is rating this stuff little children? Too each its own though I guess. But I own my own opinion and there you have it.

LOL oh yes, you are WAY too mature to play Halo 3. i laugh when ever i hear halo is a kids game, and since when is 25 considered a 'little child'? to be honest people who dont play games because they think its too 'childish' for them, are usually the most immature people of them all

I am gonna say yes, even with ODST around the bend. Halo had a great campaign in my opinion. I like it because I get to play with friends from all over the place.

Single player campaign is very, very standard. Aim & shoot is pretty much it. You'll see when you play it.

From the sounds of you'd be best off getting ODST. You said you never played the other Halo games, so you're not gonna know whats going on in Halo 3. ODST though is it's own self contained story. You don't need to know anything about Halo in oder to get into ODST. And it includes Halo 3's multiplayer along with all the DLC maps at no extra charge.

These people would probably reccomend a mix of call of duty 4 or 5. Although I have a lot of fun with gears 2 online, also left4dead is great if you can get a group of people to regularly play with.

You can play ranked matches with modes like swat and team battle rifles where it is one shot and more challenging

And the people that say campaign is too easy or simple obviously played it on normal. It even says that it's meant to be played on herioc or legendary.
