i got banned off xbox live so i wanted to get a new xbox but using the same hard drive. I know i will have to recover my gamertag and all the achievements i earned will dissapear but will the game data dissapear also?

IF you use the same harddrive on the new console, you will NOT GET BANNED. But you cannot go back and and forth on consoles, you will corrupt your safe file. Achievements earned on your modded console from now on cannot be used on your new console.

The same thing happened to a few of my friends. If you're telling the truth and only your console got banned, you will still be able to use your hard-drive and account on another 360. You should still have all of your saves and stuff as well.
If it was banned because of piracy? Which i think because you said you just want to play live.. which they restrict from doing without being caught.. You probably deserve both to be blocked... However if not.. then hope you can get it working :) your choice :) And should be okay with hard drive.

Anyways as long as you remove any games from the hard drive (if you directly installed any illegal copies) and recover your gamer tag you are good. A few of my friends had the exact same thing happen and that is all they had to do.
ok so i just bought final fantasy 13 and i got the first achievement but im playing it on the banned console, when i get a new one the save file will still b there? and will the achievement re-unlock?
I don't let anyones hard drives or other equipment that retains data near my 360..I won't be made an example of. If people don't wanna get banned stop breaking Microsoft's terms. If your console got banned, stop hacking it to play burned games. If your gamertag got banned stop being obnoxious online. And if the hard drive is from a banned console you may wanna reformat or something because your data will get corrupted on a new console. not completely sure of the details of the last bit but if the hard drive was used on the banned one, when you try to load any save data on the new one it will corrupt I believe.

Okay, I'm going to answer your question quickly. Was your HD or memory card in the system WHEN it got banned? If it was, your **** is nuked. All of it, your memory saves...your gamertag.....all of it. Anytime you plug that HD or memory card into a LEGIT xbox, the information is going to come up as corrupt. You have to physically wipe the stuff off of your saving devices and start over. You can and will recover your gamertag. That is all. Any gamerscore points you acquired while playing on the banned box after it was banned will not count. long story short...if it was attached to the system the moment it was banned..you have to erase it and start over. no, plugging the HD devices back in after they've been wiped or cleaned will not get you banned. a modded system will get you banned. i wouldn't advise you to continue to keep info from the banned console on your HD since MS is subject to change their policy at any time...

so theres no way to transfer a save file to a new HD or memory card, even if that file is legit?
if thats your quick answer,id hate to see the long one..I told you before,there is an app that uncorrupts the whole lot,saves and acheivments.you wont lose nothing if you DONT recover your tag.Use google mate,i offered to help by P.M but that was 10 posts ago so try my new suggestion if you want the solution
My buddy called Xbox and they told him that he can use the same HDD. Of course they gave him a lecture about modding and such but he is using his nex Xbox and the old HDD with no issues.

also is it possible to do this process if i already recovered my gamertag on my friends hard drive to c if my live still worked?
