Thats just...weird, i mean i'll be the first to admit that the story of the game isnt really deep or intense, in fact it really didnt have much going for it. It basically breaks down to Creatures attack, Humanitys on the brink of extinction, Introduce Marcus, Marcus is let out of jail, Marcus needs to get the resonator, Marcus Finds Resonator, Marcus Uses Resonator, Marcus gets better idea, Marcus travels to fathers hidden meth lab in wine cellar, Marcus defeats Locust using what he found in fathers hideout. If it was a movie, Cole would be Ving Rhames, Barid would be Stephen Baldwin, Dom would be John Leguizamo, and Marcus would be nowadays Tom Sizemore.
I've slowly become a bigger more dedicated fan of that "other" system but I gotta say Gears had an amazing story. Not the way it was written but the way it way told...you're running through the heat of battle and you finally get into the room and you hear Cole shootin bad guys yellin defiant insults while he shoots rounds off. That kind of element sets the mood for an engrossing story..hence the reason Gears was so easy to play through..you wanted to know what happened next. It reminded me a lot of Predator 1...lots of action explaing what was going on....yet it worked flawlessly
the story is actually good, you actually have to pay attention though to find it. wait a little bit while on the very firt screen. a video pops up explaining the events before the SP game. that and the manual is where you get the background story. and keep in mind that it is the first of a planned trilogy. so they have 2 more games to vamp up the story for those who couldnt figure it out.
GDC is only for USnA games or world wide games? Because if Gears beated all of last year games in story even a XBX 360 fanboy has to admit that story was the only thing lacking in the game

Well FF XII had a good story. If your looking for another shooter type story arch that's new I'd say Resistance. It tells the story in the similar quick yet small dosage spead out the game. I'd also recommend Prey oddly enough....the game did a good job of storytelling if you were able to get into the game.

GoW story, good characters but a bad story that seems like a lot was left out. Also seems like a lot was added quickly and not explained well or at all, kind of like Lost Planet.
