Gears of War 2 unlockable characters?

I can't remember where exactly, but I read somewhere that unlocking certain achievements in Gears 1 will unlock characters for Gears 2's multiplayer.

Thing is, I deleted my Gears 1 save a while back when I sold the game.

I have most achievements for Gears 1 but now no game saves, does anybody know whether I will be able to use the unlockable characters? Will Gears 2 check the actual achievements of Gears 1 or game data?

I heard about the feature. I hope that the cutscenes for the executions will change based on the character you are playing.

Obviously, I'd assume that Raam would be only when playing as the alien-peoples.

Microsoft doesn't let to have any games linked through achievements... for example there's an achievement linked between PGR 3 and PGR 4 and microsoft didn't let them to link the games through achievements

i got the achievements to get RAAM, Lt. Kim and A.Carmine but for some reason it the characters havent been unlockedBravo-Seven
