Say guys & gals, I finally got the wife to break down and we went and purchased a 40" LCD tv this weekend to replace the 32" SD tv that we've had.....Well after applying my HDMI cables and putting in a game (COD 4) I instantly was FLOORED to say the least, I cannot explain the picture difference and my gaming days have been for ever changed....What are you gaming on, tv wise? HD or SD?

PS: I can no longer bash RSV2 for the small writing and lighting issues, on a 40" LCD this game is perfect!!!

I play on a 32" Vizio (VX32L) HDTV. It's amazing for the price.

What 40" TV did you get, exactly?

You're really late to this party. Welcome to the present. I got my first HDTV in January 2006. Didn't see the point in having a 360 if I didn't have a HDTV. I got my 360 launch day 2005. I'm on my second HDTV now. It's a 40" 1080p Samsung.

I seriously doubt there will be many people still using SDTV's. If you've got a PS3 or 360 and don't have some kind of HDTV or monitor by now then DAMN! Catch up.

I have 2 young boys that take up the pay check, not to mention a 07silverado and a Mortgage payment, so Luxuries costing 1500 dollars are a investment in my household, I actually got PS3 and 360 with the TV in mind down the road but if your married you understand that talking the wife into a TV is a ordeal, at least for me it was...But I am off and running now, no matter how late

I got a 40" LCD Samsung 1080p 60ghz refreshrate

Awesome choice. If at the time (one year ago) I had 2x the disposable income, I would've opted for a Samsung. Have fun gaming in HD, MrYates!

I have a 32" Samsung LCD HDTV 720p. I'm looking to upgrade to 1080p. My friend who sells HDTVs for a living (he has his own store) says that 1080p in gaming is MUCH better in terms of picture quality. It surprised me because I read articles online saying there's only a slight difference if none at all. As a matter of fact, the highest rated TV is a Pioneer 720p. Relatively speaking, I guess most games do not truly support 1080p just yet. A few, but the majority are still 720p/1080i, which are nearly the same. I would explain but it would take a whole blog post. Knowing that most, if not all video games will eventually go the 1080p route, it wouldnt hurt to upgrade to 1080p. Besides, if you love to watch movies, you will get a better picture than 720p.

Yeah congratulations man. I have a son as well, and kids are mighty expensive. But it's all worth it. Unless you are Will Smith's wife - Jada Pinkett Smith, and you can walk into a car dealership and buy a half a million dollar car. But for some of us, money doesnt come easy. Even if it does, saving is more important than luxury. When you strike it rich, then by all means splurge. ;)

I've been gaming on a 32" Sharp Aquos HDTV for over a year now and I had the same reaction when I first started playing in HD. Now I'm so used to it that a game really has to have mindblowing graphics to impress me. IMO Bioshock and Gears top that list for the 360 and Uncharted and Heavenly Sword for the PS3.

I bought an HDTV solely for 360 gaming at launch. I never watch TV and don't have HD signal.

Same here, I'm use to it too. That's why I want to upgrade to 1080p, just to give myself a piece of mind.

Lol, I got mine January 06 too.

Anyway, I play on my 55" TV in my basement. I like it a lot but it only supports up to 1080i and it is really fat. I'm planning on getting a 46" Sharp Aquos. I love those TV's.

I hear ya, but how much difference is there really between 720p and 1080p? I know this has been debated countless times, but from what I've read, you can only notice the difference on TVs that are 50" and up. Another thing to keep in mind is that there are very few 360 or PS3 games that support full 1080p resolution. I'd say 90% or more are 720p.

I'm not married but I have one child and live with my girlfriend. I've got all the other good stuff like mortgage and car, two dogs etc etc. Don't assume people can only afford luxuries if they're single. I paid attention in school. I've got a good job and, more importantly, I know how to save so I can afford what I want and more.
