Frankie announced that he is leaving Bungie to "work more closely with Microsoft on the Halo franchise." He's saying that the reason he is leaving is to work more closely on future Halo games. This means that Bungie is moving away from developing Halo games. Bungie is moving on to make non Halo related games, while Microsoft will continue to breath like into the franchise. The legendary developer is moving on, and Microsoft is taking over.

At least some good news did come out of the update, 2 new maps are in the making for Halo 3 called "Purple Reign and Moonbase Alpha." We will eagerly be awaiting their release, and will probably be the last downloadable content for Halo 3. EVER! Savor the game, appreciate all that it is, for there will never be another game like it. A legendary ending to a mythical franchise.

Can you give us a reference?

also i have been waiting for those last two maps...

it will be interesting to see how microsoft messes up one of the most epic, and influencing series to ever exist. R.I.P. Halo you join the ranks of other dead but fun franchises such as Sonic, Tom Clancy games (all in general), and Quake to name a few.

but i am looking forward to Bungies next masterpiece *cough*MARATHON*cough*

well i guess that means for all of those "future" halo games i wont be standing in line for them until i read a review. As for the guy who said something about the tom clancy games, i dont know what you're talking about man, the tom clancy games in recent history have been the best yet. And there's more to come.

Like many people you are taking things way out of context. First of all Bungie never claimed that Moon Base Alpha and Purple Reign are the last maps. Second, they never said that they will stop working with the Halo franchise. That's like saying that Valve doesn't care about the Half-Life franchise. Yes it is true that they will not be as involved in future Halo games as closely as they use to be, but they will still have a lot to say about something they orignally created; primarily the storyline considering the Halo Story Bible belongs to Bungie. It is true that Microsoft is assembling a team for future Halo games and it is true that Bungie is working on something that is totally unrelated to Halo (not marathon).

It's sad that Frankie left Bungie to work with Microsoft on Future Halo games. However, perhaps he can prevent Microsoft from tainting Halo into somethign really awful.

Legendary game??? WTF?

Appreciate what???

The game turned old and sour 2-3 weeks of its release.

The first week there were about 1.5-2 million people online.

Nowadays if you are lucky, you'll see 500,00 ppl online. The game was alright, but I wonder what Bungie will do now

You basically self owned yourself when you said "ONLY 500,000 ppl online" ....tell me how many other games have that or have even hit that mark let alone the one million mark jeez. It's sad that he left but its good that Bungie is moving on, we have to see if they can be succsessful in something other than FPS games or just the Halo seeing as games like Oni were a failure back in the day.

True.

Bungie has been sucessful in other franchises like Marathon and Myth. It's to bad these games were Mac exlusive or else they would have had a greater popularity. Oni was a game that Bungie originally developed for the PlayStation 2 and it was a game designed by RockStar. Imagine that Bungie made a game for the PS2 and even developed a game for a company that made GTA IV. Also Myth belongs to Take Two but it was fully designed and develped by Bungie.

Bungie made Halo 3 and I think most would agree that it was a disappointment. Now let me say that again dis-ap-point-ment.I didn't say it sucked I didn't say it killed the franchise. It was just a disappointment. So maybe it will be good to get a few new people working with this Frankie guy and breath new life into the colossal turd of a story and the Saturday morning kiddie cartoon feel.I think that most can agree that they have got the multiplayer down pat. That is what the people are playing. It's not the actual written game and that is what needs fixing.Lets face it.This game has the largest age group for a "mature" game. Most parents will buy this game for there 12 year old.I know cause he killed me in a deathmatch game and in a girlie voice he said I was gay. However a lot fewer parents are buying games like GOW and COD4 because they are so much more adult and violent. So that cuts into that tweeny age group that accounts for a good chunk of the Halo community that Gears and COD can't get.If Gears gets its multiplayer figured out. That will take some of the even larger group of people who only play Halo because of its good multiplayer. So right now its week point is the story and a new brain crew may fix it and that's good for everyone.

I'm going to try to help this poor guy.He did not say 500,000.He said "500,00".I think his comma was in the wrong place and he meant 50,000.If this is true or not I do not know but I just wanted to point that out.

You might be right that he was trying to say 50,000. But that totally false. I allways see between 100- 350,000. It's declined a bit since GTA4 came out.
