ODST, I like the narrative structure a lot. And though people thought it was short, padding it out with Legendary adds so much to the experience. Originally I wasn't a fan, but it grew on me.

Honestly though, when I played through the MCC, each game back to back, each game in it seriously felt like my most favorite game ever. It was a great reminder of why I had come to love the Halo series with each and every game.

Didn't we just have a thread like this?

Anyway, I love them all (except 5) but I still have a soft spot for Combat Evolved.

I only play Halo for the campaign... and 5 is easily the weakest one yet.

Halo CEA followed very closely by Halo 3.

I just played all the Halo games that there is but for me, if there's one Halo game that I must pick, it will always be Halo Combat Evolve. The game that revolutionize FPS and it felt like I was playing a PC game at it's time when I didn't have a PC at the time.

MP: 5

I'd go with Halo Reach, followed by 3

For me the first Halo is still the best Halo. So Halo CE.

I've played enough H5 now to maintain what I said not too long ago, that Halo 5 is my favorite game in the series as far as the online MP is concerned. Joined a company not too long ago and played so much this weekend, despite the fact that I was in a group of like 10 decent people I was surprised we weren't steamrolling other teams....there are quite a few talented people playing the game I must say.

I've never had this much fun playing Halo online, I just love the new moves and versatility of the character. For once in the series, you truly feel like a super soldier.....I'm not sure I could go back and enjoy the tank-like controls of the older Halos as much, or without an uncomfortable adjustment period at least, but it is a matter of preference overall and the new gameplay just fits my play style more than previous entries.

As for campaign....honestly it is a tough question, because there is lots of nostalgia in the mix and I really enjoyed each game in a different way during a different time. Probably H3 but ask me again in a few weeks and I might answer differently lol.

Halo Reach, I loved the story and felt like it was the pinnacle for design, narrative and value. Truthfully I enjoy them all alot, so I'm not complaining. They're all AAA.

people are going to kill me but my favorite Single Player was Halo 4 .
favorite MP was Halo 2 .

Of all the Halo games Halo 3 was my favorite. Followed by Halo CE, Halo 5, Halo Reach, Halo 2, Halo WARS, Halo 4, Halo ODST Halo Spartan Assault

Halo 3 was the only time I was "addicted to Multiplayer". Plus it was the game I was most pumped for.. Finishing the fight was a big deal back then.

I still really like 3 and ODST.

I'm surprised you said Halo 4 was the best campaign,in my opinion it was the weakest but still great game.I also find that 343I is doing a great job on Halo's multiplayer.Better then Bungie's multiplayer,in my opinion.

The game with the best campaign is Halo CE.

Best MP is Halo 3.

Reach is my favorite story. Warzone is my favorite multiplayer, I'm probably one of the few people that enjoyed H4 and H5for story and art.

I have some of the greatest memories playing halo 2-- single player AND multiplayer. An excellent game.

Out of all the Halo games, I can't pick a number one favorite. My favorites are Reach, Halo 3, Halo 4, ODST, Halo 5. I love ODST as though it is a cheap spin off, it does provide an interesting perspective of the Halo Universe. Reach has a fantastic campaign and a custimization system that is the best. The others have excellent stories and gameplay. In all Halo is one of my favorite game series.

@kvally: I have to admit,Halo 5 multiplayer is Epic.It's one of the best multiplayer in vg today,in my opinion.

I'm gonna have to say it's close to a tie between Halo CEA and Halo 3 but for nostalgia sake, I'll give the edge to Halo CEA.

I preferred Reach. It had a more realistic story. Humanities first encounter with a more advanced civilization. We'd get owned.

That being said, as with each and every Halo game you can literally run through the entire game & not fight any yard trash. Unless they have a boss checkpoint. I discovered this back in the day playing the first Halo on original Xbox while being chased by a Hunter. If I just ran to the next checkpoint the enemies stop and it loads the next area. Literally ran through Halo 2. Returned it the day of purchase.

Halo CE > Halo 3 >>> the rest, imo...

My time with Halo 5 has just been limited to what I have played at my friends house but

Halo Reach would have to be my all time favorite. That story was great and the game just felt good.

and I'm surprised why so many people say Halo 4's campaign was so weak . I loved the Music amazing job by Neil Divadge , it had a beautiful design specially with the Promethean Architecture , I liked the Mission design , all the areas were somehow memorable to play and I went through it many times . story was also good enough to keep me going .

@kingcrimson24: I loved the Halo 4 campaign and finished it multiple times. I honestly don't concern myself much with how others felt about it. As you said the music and art was great, in fact I have the incredible tune "Arrival" on my music player for when I go jogging lol.

halo 2 was my fav it was the first online muiltiplayer game I played. it was the best

MP? No doubt Halo 5. Best MP shooter Ive played since Titanfall. I don't do the competitive thing much anymore. You get older and you have little patience for the kids with something to prove. But those 2 games got me playing again for a bit. Generally I dig online co op

EDIT: Hell, I'll be that guy and admit it...............**** the critics and "I shouldn't have to read books to keep up with a games story" Halo 5's campaign is up there as well. So much lore to be had from Bear's Forerunner trilogy, and just the tactical differences in how Prometheans attack. I love that game the way some people never stop playing Mario

As a long time fan, I found it quite lacklustre. Definitely not horrible, but easily the weakest to date.

I too agree with Halo 5 multiplayer.Best in the series.Halo 4 was also great as well.343I is doing something right,with the multiplayer especially.

I am a big fan. I stopped of reading the novels and fell behind after finishing the Forerunner trilogy. I wanted to start reading the Witcher books. I have begun reading Halo again by a quick scan through the forerunner trilogy then I just need to get on Amazon, look at release dates and start Kindle shopping.

No, maybe I misspoke with my enthusiasm. Halo5's campaign is not my favorite. I consider 2 the weakest but to me that's like picking the ugliest Victoria's Secret Angel. They're all great fun to me. Its just something that speaks to me and I love. Like Pearl Jam. I love some albums more than others, but I can jam to any of them.

My problem with 5's campaign was shoehorning Locke and team Osiris into the starring role. Needed more Chief playability and maybe like Gears would do at times split up pathways where you need to cover the other 2 members to an objective.

Halo 4's MP was made fun to me because of who I played with mostly. Guys in the barracks and a few NCOs who were against the grain and not all over COD.

Yeah fair enough... I just found H5 to be too much like a COD campaign at times. It was all style over substance. And I thought that the lead-up to H5 (Hunt the Truth series etc) totally oversold the whole Locke vs Chief scenario, which was practically non-existent in the game. Overall the story in the game was just lacklustre to me.

And I agree with your point about Gears. If 343 are going to continue down this path of team-mates always accompanying you throughout the campaign (which sadly I think they will) , they need to take a few leaves out of Gears' book on how to do it better.

Single Player: A tie between Halo 3 and Reach. Multiplayer, well 5 definitely plays the best but had the most fun with 3 back in the day. I hardly play 5's multiplayer, as good as it is, it just doesnt appeal to me and everyone on it is a try hard.
