i haven't been able to get ME2 yet but i can highly recommend DA:O its a great game. However, the choices and dialogue is more intense and the charactor build is more complex. So if you like more action and simplistic RPG elements DA:O might not be for you but if you like an intense RPG experance then get it for sure.
think more of KotOR when thinking of an approach to Dragon Age, the combat is a bit more similar but it tosses heavy character development at your face
IMO Mass Effect 2 is the better game, DA is clearly made for the PC and controls clunky in comparison. Still a good rpg but better played on a pc if possible.

I've completed DA:O. You've really gotta be careful in Dragon Age. If you don't plan your team right and level up correctly and such.. You may never pass the final boss. 3 of my friends messed up and can't defeat the final boss.. and on my first file I made a mistake or two and it took me forever to beat it. However once you've got it down.. It's still a lot of fun. I enjoyed my Second and Third playthrough just as much as the first. (: But after that, it lost appeal.
I like the fantasy setting better, as well as the deeper character development. Don't get me wrong...I love Mass Effect, but I just prefer Dragon Age more.
