This pretty much. I read a thread earlier about a guy forgetting his account password so I wonder if microsoft will make the transfer cable work with the next xbox.I can't see why not. After all, the Gamertags for the original Xbox were transfered to the Xbox 360 and Games For Windows LIVE.

Besides, you can already use your gamer account on the windows phone 7, it's not really that hard for MS to transfer it, actually it's easier as they don't have to design a new system and they can keep their current databases...
I sure hope so, I'm proud of all the work I did in the last 6 years to get my gamer score, call me stupid but I'd be pi**ed if they didn't.
Since backwards compatibilies are no likely to be a part of the Third Xbox. The answer is No. Mircosoft seems to be switching to SD cards, plus blocking used games. I wouldn't count on keeping your gamerscore.
Xbox live will likely be completely revamped for the new console, so I doubt it. The service is going to cost more and require signing up all over again.
[QUOTE="-DirtySanchez-"]you would expect that they will but i honestly think they wontscotty992Why? just a gut feeling with the way backwards compatibility has gone down, the constant push for going to an all digital medium, the horrid uses of DLC, i just see things always going wrong and expect this to be no different

I'd be worried about them not allowing us to reuse our controllers and accessories for the next system.
Really can't see accounts ever being a problem.

You don't need transfer cable to carry over your account. In fact, you can login to different machines via internet already. If you are talking about transfering XBLA game saves or just don't want to download the game again, yes, it is very easy. It is just female to female USB cables, very cheap to make. All they need to do is to make sure the OS will include transfer options, which is expected to happen (since X360 can do this already, also you want to make sure X720 to X720 also works, so X360 to X720 is almost the same).
This is 100% false, you have no idea what you're talking about.... lmao female to female USB cable? ..... BC has nothing to do with XBL account. In fact, you can play XBLA games on X720 natively, I know so because XBLA games are .NET based, they are not really X360 games to begin with. And obviously BC would still be the same emulation based, so you can play Halo4 obviously. And again, BC has nothing to do with XBL.
You're saying all these things as if they are fact when the system hasn't even been announced yet just shut your stupid mouth please, thxYes accounts will carry over to Xbox durango/720. As accounts did carry over from the original Xbox 1 to Xbox 360 so you will be able to continue your account to Xbox 720.
I really believe they should. I cannot think of any reason for Microsoft not to allow this. And unlike with the Wii U, profiles are not bound to the consoles. It should be a relatively easy process to transition from the XBOX 360 to the new generation console.
First of all it would be really stupid for them to whipe out all the accounts and have people sign in for new ones. Keeping your account will give you an extra motivation to invest in nextbox otherwise a lot of people might consider changing a platform (switching to PS let's say?)
I wont be picking up a 720 if its not 100% backward compatible (accounts, gamertags, achievements, games). I have a nice size library that I would like to add to and not start over. I'm not a fan of having 7 different consoles hooked up in my living room and would like to just migrate everything over, and sell my 360 to help pay for 720.
I can play all my 360 games while I wait for more and more 720 games to come out. This includes online functions of games as well (its the same live service). All and all there is no reason for it not to be BC, the next gen will not be a big change in formats like last time (SD to HD). Also a bigger reason is Microsoft is trying to blend all their platforms into one ecosystem (pc, tablet, xbox, phone) and with the huge install base of the 360, MS is not going to alienate anyone, they want everything brought together.
