Devil may cry4 help??

If i wanna play devil may cry4 and ' played any of the other previous to this one will i be lost completely or will i be OK i know major characters of course but not a great knowledge of the storyline can anyone help me?

No, its just a play as you go kinda game the story isn't really important because the game is divided into missions, when you beat a mission you exit and start a new one. Almost like an anime show.

well to be honest there isnt much of a story to DMC4 unfortunately and whats there isnt very good also some stuff is never really explained like why nero's arm is the way it is. You dont need to have knowledge of the past game because DMC4 deals with mostly new stuff.
