really i say download the demos of all the games you listed. You'd probably like Just Cause2 the most. but I honestly like Mafia II a lot too. The cars handle kinda poorly in Mafia II, but I think they handle somewhat realistic for the time. There are some faster cars, but they're never really very fast compared to GTA or Saints Row games. I havent played LA noir yet, but one of these days I'll rent it. oh and Just Cause2 has a TON of vehicles. You'll enjoy the demo, but the full game is HUGE and has a lot to do.
open world games not including saints row or gta are
driver sanfrancisco
just cause 1 and 2
mafia 2
crackdown 1 and 2
mercenaries 2=this ones pretty awful , but ya
the wheelman
I'm looking for an open-world driving game for the 360, and I'm not interested in a racer like Burnout or Test Drive Unlimited. The games I'm listing here are more the kind I'm looking for: involving open-world driving, but also with on-foot elements. I'd like to know your thoughts on, specifically, the open-world driving component in the following games. That is, I want the driving to be satisfying, for there to be a diversity of driving objectives and chances for high-speed travel, for the environment to be diverse and interesting, and for there actually to be stuff to do while exploring. Mafia II - I like what I've seen in the demo, but I've read some comments that suggest that, while this is open-world, there really isn't anything to do in the world that's not story related. I also wonder if the period setting provides enough of a selection of vehicles. L.A. Noire - Same question about the vehicle selection given the setting. And since I know the main emphasis of this game is not driving, I'm not sure whether that component would be satisfying enough. Just Cause 2 - Read a lot of good things about this one. The only doubt I have is about the diversity of the environment. It strikes me as sparse and repetitive, as opposed to the more typical urban settings. Has anyone found this to be true? Mercenaries 2 - Exploration doesn't seem like this game's forte. Is there plenty of driving and plenty to do?tarsusc81
Whether the driving is good or not, these games don't focus on chases, therefore it shouldn't matter if the driving is satisfying. So if someone said the driving in Just Cause 2 wasn't very good, you'd avoid it?
