Well I recently got my 3rd 360 so withthis one I am not taking any chances >.>

I got one my dads Amplifier 12mm Pro fan that moves air like a beast and its relatively silent

so I was wondering is it better to put it in the back (were the other fans are)of the 360 to help suck the hot air? or

is it better to put it on the side vent (theopposite side of the HDD)to feed air into the 360?

appreciate the opinions and suggestions :)

Never thought of that, I mean blowing the air IN might also bring the dust particles to rest on sensitive chips or clog up the fan, but again how do you blow air OUT? I tried to use a keyboard dust blower on my 360 to get rid of the dust on the fans. Does that even help it?

not sure if this was a the reason or not but I blew some canned air into my disk drive while it was open. The next day I got one red ring.

I have pc fans on the right side blowing air in, cant hurt help to assist the airflow instead of just relying on the vacuum created by the fans at the back and the cowling covering the heatsinks. Mind you, I have covered the fans on the side with flyscreen which catches all the dust and cat hair so its not going in the console itself.

I think the problem I found was that the air was going in but at the same time escaping thru the sides of the vents since apparently the fan feeds WAY to much air and the design of the 360s sidehoneycomb acts like a wall >.>

yep, I found this too when I tried to use my tornado pc fan (bloody loud like a jet fighter) so I opted for 2 small 5 $ case coolers. not the fastest rotating fans but their quiet and are strong enough to get the air in without it "walling".

nope, moving it to the back will make the existing fans rotate faster which is not good for the system, or the bearings in the fans. keep it on the right hand side blowing air in and let the fans at the back do their thing by completing the cycle of exhausting the hot air.

i would say its better to blow air in because if you blow air out, what will help keep the system stay cool and not over heat. heating is the number one problem of the 360 out of all the things.

I like to set my little house fan on my bed (aprox. 4 feet from 360) and point it towards the right side of my xbox so that its not overwhelming it with too much air but allowing cool flowing air towards the intake on the right side.

I used a 150 PSI shop air compressor to blow the dust out from my 360 after some drywall work was done. Now that did the job, but I don't recommend it.
