I am 30 and play with bunch of guys in the same age range. The average age on Live though is probably like 20. There are a lot more 14 year olds than 30 year olds so I'd go with that.
Err for some reason I thought you were asking about XB Live. Well, I worked at EB, Gamestop, and had my own store for awhile so I can tell you gamers go from 4 years old to 50 years old for the most part. The really young kids mainly have a DS or PSP with maybe a PS2 at home but the 40-50 year olds with the money usually have the PS3s and 360s but are less likely to play online, and don't buy games extremely frequently. The people in the 25-30 age range are the people who grew up on gaming, keep up with the hardware and software, and are able to stay on the cutting edge on tech like Live, Natal, etc. The 15-24 year olds can buy games and hardware frequently too but are more prone to trade in or sell their stuff for whatever the newest thing out is.
Taken from the BBC webby: "A UK survey from 2002, conducted by the Leisure Software Publishers Association, found the average gamer was aged between 25 and 34."
And some interesting points taken from The Entertainment Software Association website from an industry survey:
The statistics are interesting, I'd have thought that the average age would have been about 21, but I suppose if we consider those who grew up with Arcades and the Atari, and then stayed with video games throughout their development - then it makes sense that the average gamer is in their 30s.

- The average game player is 35 years old and has been playing games for12 years.
- The average age of the most frequent game purchaser is39 years old.
- Forty percent of all game players are women. In fact, women over the age of 18 represent asignificantly greater portion of the game-playing population (34 percent) than boys age 17 or younger (18 percent).
- In 2009,25 percent of Americans over the age of 50 play video games, an increase from nine percent in 1999.

Those numbers are really hard to believe over in the US. Plenty of older people buy and play games but the AVG can't be 35. A lot of scewing can go on now too with the Wii. A 50 year old might own a Wii, Wii Sports and Wii Fit. Then they can say that they play video games but it's not what I would consider being a gamer. I still would stick with my guess of no older than 24 for the average actual gamer's age.

Your right, its 30
from 2008, it doesnt tell you the sample size and there is no hard data. not what i would call 'reliable'My parents are under the assumption that games are played by kids only.kashim26a lot of people still are,,,,despite the existance of games like gears of war,,,a game where you chain saw aliens to death and has a plot that deals with the attempted genocide of the human race,,,,how people can still think games are for kids with awesome stuff like that is beyond me lol
