In past years WWE has been very careful not to schedule against the NFL playoffs, especially when it comes to the Royal Rumble PPV. But on January 24th, 2010, the WWE Royal Rumble will go against either the AFC Championship game on CBS or NFC Championship game on FOX. WWE traditionally runs the event between the Championship games and Super Bowl week. In 2003, the Rumble went against the games and the buy rate suffered. Now fans of both will have to choose between the NFL and WWE on that Sunday.

[UPDATE]
PWInsider reports that WWE has moved the 2010 Royal Rumble PPV to 1/31. The show was scheduled for 1/24 which would have put it up against the NFL AFC or NFC Championship game. Apparently WWE scheduled the Royal Rumble without knowing that the NFL would be running a championship game that night, and made the move when they became aware of it.
