Who is the Steam Machine for?

Got one also, don't see the appeal either. Perhaps linux users? Maybe Mac users aswell? 

I'm guessing it would be for people who don't typically play games on PC or use Steam, but might be interested in getting into it from a a console with a Steam OS... lensflare15

None of the console makers will let Steam on their system. I just wonder what this whole deal of Steam and Valve. Everyone just worships them for some reason. CS is generic, Team Fortress looks boring. Half life looks like a decent sci fi shooter and Left 4 Dead is another zombie shooter
