Kotaku: Ryse QTEs complete themselves even if you press no buttons

Im on the battlefield. Im stomping through the corpses of my comrades swinging my sword at anything that moves. I begin a combo, I slash twice and then whooom slow motion is initiated, shit is about to get cinematic. A button prompt hovers elusively above the sword Im about to drive into the throat of my enemy argh Im too slow! The prompt flickers, disappears.

I missed it. Damn.

But then somehow, for some reason, I still complete the cinematic kill.

What?

Maybe its a bug I think, but no. Next time I deliberately press the wrong button. The kill goes ahead, no consequences. Then I try hitting no buttons whatsoever. The kill goes ahead. I put the controller on the table in front of me, the kill goes ahead.

What is going on here?

I ask one of the Crytek people hovering at the booth is this a bug? Why am I completing kills when I hit the wrong button prompt? Or, worse, no button at all. Turns out it was a deliberate design choice.

We dont want the player to feel frustrated, I am told.

Day 1

I'm guessing that's just the demo that does this...Doesn't really matter, the game is complete trash.

I watched the demo and I'm pretty sure hwoever that system is going to work they aren't finished tweaking it.

Game still looks like shit though.

Wll you know xbox fans are lazy they complain about having to hit the X button on the PS3 to sink trophies,so now they will get the perfect game for them it play for it self.

Game looks suited to the PS3 crowd, since all their exclusives are basically just movies anyway. :cool:

Not defending it, but people get mad when they fail a QTE. Why is an unfailable one bad? You'd only notice it if you were bored and trying to break the game.Senor_Kami

People also get mad when they die. Should dying be taken out of games too?

As much as I am COMPLETELY in love with the pitchfork and torch party for all things XBone related, I'm willing to chalk this up to the early build or demo build of the game.

I'm still secretly hoping a week or so before the X1 release, MS will suddenly make a statement how this was all just a bad joke and how we've all been trolled, and unveil the real X1 with real games.

Video games are an interactive medium... if they play by themselves, what's the damn point? :o

Rather turn Ryse into a movie, Crytek, make it a 300 spin-off, or whatever...
