I just got a ps3 and all my games have insane amount of jaggies... my tv is 1080p and my ps3 is hooked up with HDMI and set to either use 720p or 1080p

I had a xbox 360 for a while that I used with a different tv but i had to set it to a custom resolution to match my TV's native resolution and it solved the aliasing problem i had with the 360... is this possible on ps3? to set a custom resolution ?

I dont even know if this would fix the problem though because i'm pretty sure my new TV's native resolution is 1080p...

    are there any other fixes?

Welcome to the jaggy world of PS3   Most games can not be scaled from 720p to 1080p.  Also, most games do not use anti-alising either.  Sad but true

The refresh rate is only 60 Hz... 120Hz or higher is best.

A higher refresh rate cuts down on the (Jaggies). The bigger the TV, the higher the refresh rate should be if you want a nice picture. I wouldn't have posted otherwise.

    wtf are you talking about?
PS3 games run at 30fps (with a few at 60fps), having a TV that just interpolates extra frames has no impact on graphics, and adds input lag.
Referesh rate/frame rate have no impact on aliasing.

I get over 300+ FPS on my 120Hz monitor while playing CSS yet I still need to apply some AA.

A higher refresh rate in an HDTV usually equates to a better internal picture processor.

But thats not always true. It depends on the manufacture and if the TV has any bloated features.

But lets skip all of that. Lets work on what you do have which is a nice LED TV.

Check out this page. An update for your TV. But be sure to read the correct way to do it. (Adult supervision if you're not one.)

Fix for HDMI Sharpness Setting and USB View Slideshow Mode.

I havent seen any disturbing jaggies in my PS3 games.

I mean, I guess if I got up close and really looked, I could find something. But perhaps I havent played the games you have.

You could also try Sonys web site and perhaps youll find a helpful calibration.
