System Wars is a one of a kind destination where gamers can discuss, rant, and debate about systems, platforms, handhelds and the games. Not many people survive System Wars. The mightiest system warriors back up their arguments with facts.

Rules are simple:
- Read the Terms of Use and System Wars Survival Guide.
- Must be Level 10 or higher to create topics.
- Keep your discussions around what belongs here: platforms, games, developers, publishers, and stats.
- Don't quote more than one image in your post.
- Do NOT post or bump extremely abusive discussions (adult material/illegal activities/illegal advertising/etc).

Why was Playstation Allstars such a commercial failure?

If Nintendo can make a brawler with their first and some third party characters, and be successful, why didn't SONY have the same success? They have a huge selection of unique first party characters, and the third party characters that they managed to acquire are really cool. Dante, Raiden, Issac, really cool ones.

What did SuperBot do so wrong that SONY cut ties with them?

Because Superbot and Sony missed the point of what makes Super Smash Bros. so good.

What he said. SuperBot didn't balance the game correctly and used characters that didn't even belong. Why is PaRappa The Rappa in this game? He doesn't fight. The game looked tedious and boring when they demoed it and I knew immediately it was going to fail. Of course every Cow thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Some even thought it was better then SSBB. HA!!!

    • Poor character choices
    • Weak marketing
    • Mediocre presentation

It's a good game, but those three issues held it back. Character selection most of all, I think. You can't really call your game 'PlayStation All-Stars' (speaking of which, the terrible name is issue #4) and miss iconic characters like Cloud, Crash Bandicoot, and Solid Snake. Irregardless of their ability to obtain those characters, the lack of them was always going to hurt the game. The third-party characters they did manage to get in were not good choices. Big Daddy from Bioshock and Donte (from a then unreleased game) are not what pumps up the market.

Presentation was also lacking. Menus, for example, were functional, but looked like they were designed by an intern. It's the first thing you see in the game, and it doesn't leave a good impression. Collectibles were present in number, but not in quality. The actual fighting in the game was done well, but the arcade mode was far less interesting than the one in Smash. Basically everything outside of the actual battles needed work.

fans have been clamoring for a game like this to be made for years and when Sony finally makes it they ignore it.  But why it failed this bad? Probably marketing because what sell games these days is not quality but marketing and hype. That's why Kinect has sold so much while the Eyetoy was basically another flop.

I want to get it but I know its one of those games I will get bored of after a few months. Unlike Super Smash flash in nearly everyone special there is nothing you can do but dodge? well thats what happend in the beta atleast.

The game is fun as balls on the Vita, I'd imagine its general lack of compelling content doomed it quite easily on the PS3

Not enough detail, expecting an obvious answer eg. Nintendo has more popular charachters, its a bait for lems to come and say the game sucks.

I would say it's a pretty genuine question. He outlines the pros and the cons of the game in the OP, and then wonders where exactly the game might have gone wrong which led to it performing so poorly that Sony let the studio that made it go entirely. This isn't trolling.
