No, they have been. There was a lot of outrage when iPad4 launched so shortly after the ipad3. Sounds cliche, but Jobs was the essense of apple and this is already fading away.

Apple without Steve Jobs has been, historically speaking, sh*t. They are without Steve again, and history is repeating itself.

Apple of 5 years ago would absolutely have squashed these 3 and claimed the market.  But that "Apple" doesn't live here anymore.  Most every complaint lobbed at Microsoft's gaming division can be directed at Apple too.

    Costing on momentum...Check.

    Lacking strategic vision...Check.

    Wasting opportunities...Check.

If someone can explain to me exactly where Apple is heading, I'd appreaciate it because as an analyst who's trained in strategic planning...I surely can't tell.  Yes...Apple is printing money today in the same way Microsoft printed it a decade ago.

But let's not pretend that Apple is the same innovator that they have always been.  They're not.

In fact, the Pippin, Apples massive first failure to penetrate into the console market, occurred while Steve Jobs was not around. He axed it, among other things, when he returned in 1997.

No need to go any farther. Apple has already paid out 8 billion dollars to 3rd party developers. I'm not going to take your personal observations very seriously when I have some more significant data to rely on.

You got a link to back that up? They spent 8 billion dollars on games and haven nothing to show for it in regards to quality i have even less confidence in them then i did before.

Why would I make that up? Seems like a stupid thing to do. After a quick search of the internet... Apple has Paid $8 billion to Developers, Cook Says. He probably has a reasonably good idea.

I don't know what you're referring to regarding quality. Anyone who says the App Store is full of freemium garbage or quick flash games is only revealing how much they don't know. Yup.

Apple couldn't and wouldn't penetrate the console market, they would only succeed in failing. They're better in their current position with handhelds and handsets.

Apple is a different monster now, and the market itself is different. Apple wouldn't be incompetent enough to release such a hideous device again without huege financial backing (and they can afford just about anything).

I don't think that's right. People are aligned with their chosen console. I just don't see that happening.

Ay, in the very temple of Delight Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine -- John Keats

We look before and after, and pine for what is not: our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; Our sweetest songs are those that tell of saddest thought -- Shelley

It's been well known at least at an industry level that everyone responsible for the Xbox and the success of the 360 are all more or less gone, and Microsoft has completely changed the direction of their Xbox division.

Which is why the dashboard and their direction is what it is at the moment.

    Whelp.

No company is infallible especially in the land of gaming, look at past juggernauts like Atari or Sega.

Apple is indeed a completely different company now. You're also correct in saying Apple can afford just about anything. To quote myself...
