Anyone remember the Getaway games on PS2. Wondering what people's thoughts on them are and if they've played them recently?

The first one was really ahead of it's time and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's graphics were jaw dropping and I also loved that all the cars were licensed. I didn't play much of the 2nd one, except the first mission where you control the cop and raid a warehouse I think, but from the little I played the shooting mechanics were improved and the story seemed interesting. I was disappointed when they cancelled the reboot for this gen. Hope it happens sometime in the future

Film noir/crime drama are some of my favorite categories of video game. I really enjoyed The Getaway 1. I tried 2 but I remember getting frustrated with a poorly implemented "trial and error" stealth section that soured me on the experience.
I wish more decent games in this genre would come out. Crime drama/car chase games mostly suck, unfortunately. For every decent game like Driv3r, I can name a few horrible games like Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions or Wheelman.

I'm actually playing through Black Monday, it's not a bad game. I actually like it (including the hilarious portuguese voice acting that I choose to go through  ) apart from the driving sections, for some reason I just can't get used to the driving mechanics in the game. It's literally: Mission on foot -> 1 try -> done Mission by car -> 20 tries -> not even close But yeah, not saying the mechanics are bad, but for some reason I can't get used to them. Rest of the game is dope.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.
