I had a look at the PDF he's supplied and i'd say, $550,000 is a reasonable price for all that. If i was rich, i'd buy it!

Because even the bits i don't want could be intelligently grouped and sold off again and regain that price, without losing the parts i am interested in.

Just look at the amount and variation of NEW consoles he has.

    -

The only stumbling block mentally is this:

    lexus_lfa_price_3.jpg?w=500

Price = $375,000. Given the choice between the two, i'd have the car.

But if i was rich enough to afford that, then i'd likely be able to have the game collection as well.

Someone already bid but with auctions like this in mass amounts of money, I figure there's more chances of someone winning and not paying than usual/

That doesn't mean anything. This is simply someone trying to sell his collection, and deciding to use eBay as a vessel.

Or it could be somebody trying to con you and deciding to use eBay as a vessel. That's the problem with a "0" feedback, you just don't know.

I might take a chance on a $5-$10 game with a guy with a feedback of "0", but I think that anyone that decides to spend thousands of dollards on a guy with a feedback of "0" is a taking quite a gamble and making a pretty dumb decision.

The credibility is with eBay allowing such an auction. This is exactly what the site is for. You seriously don't think that eBay watches auctions like this, and the authenticity of such auctions? If a con went down on a half million dollar auction, it'd make national news and completely tarnish the eBay branding.

No doubt about it. It would completely tarnish eBay's reputation. But what's stopping it from happening? People get conned on eBay everyday.

Yeah, the whole point of the feedback system is so that you can weigh the amount of money you are spending against the likelyhood that you might get ripped off. Dropping $100 on a guy who has 3 positive feedback would probably give most people pause, whereas half a million against a guy who has 0 feedback should send anyone with half a brain screaming in the opposite direction. eBay will cover losses up to around $200, so you'd only be out $499,800.

If the seller is at all realistic, he isn't expecting any real bidders on the auction. He's probably just using eBay as free advertising. You put an auction like this up and it gets around the internet pretty fast. Any buyer who isn't completely out of his mind would make seperate arrangements to buy such a large lot of random items that would include an independant verfication of the entire inventory, contracts, etc.

The largest eBay scam I'm aware of was for around 1.5 million pounds and, while it did make news, it wasn't the big deal you seem to think it would be. eBay kept right on trucking.

It's a lot more complicated than that. Paypal acts as an escrow for a limited period of time, after which the funds are transferred to the other person's account. Getting money back after that point is a complicated process. It's not like Paypal is going to fork over half a million dollars to you while they go after a fraudulent seller in another country.

They'll cover up to about $200 out of pocket. Obviously this transaction wouldn't even be in the same ballpark.

That's why I use PayPal, if items haven't arived as promised, I can call PayPal & be refunded.

By the by don't use beezid.com, that site is a pyramid scam.

Haha the auctions ended. He'd probably be better off selling them in smaller collections. No one is going to spend half a million on that.
