Hello all. Well My Bravo V2 amp just committed suicide today and I need a replacement. I'm not looking to break the bank, but I would definitely like a headphone amp that's better than the V2(I'd rather not buy the same one again). I'm not to knowledgeable on amps, and I'm currently using AKG Q701's and they sound quite terrible with my on board sound card. Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Just checked on the magni looks perfect for what I am looking for, and at the price, can't be beat. Honestly to this day I still don't know what a DAC truly does(<<<< idiot alert) and wouldn't know If needed/could use one.

Its a digital to analog converter, it really makes the music sound better. I have a ODAC and love it.

Yap... And to put it more simply its a part of a sound card but since its inside your case other components can have an effect on its sound quality. Even worst if it is a on board sound card. To solve that problem you have to put it outside of your case, that's why there are external DAC.

If you are thinking of getting the Magni get the Modi as well. I use it mainly on my laptops and I even find it more neutral sounding than my Xonar STX.

Thanks guys for replies. I'm sorry I haven't been on here for two weeks. I will most likely opt for the magni + modi combo.
