according to sources dell has placed themselves up for aquisition. and the person managing their interested buyers is none other than silver lake management. silver lake management is no stranger to the industry of computers and computer software they negotiated skype getting aquired by microsoft.. according to sources in silver lake microsoft has stepped up and offered a cool 2billion US tender to buy the megalith pre-built computer maker. this could be a serious change if it goes down.

So that also means that MS will also own Alienware, right? Get ready for MS to double their prices than they currently are.

This. I'm pretty sure that there are rules that would prevent MS from buying their way into the PC hardware business.

I just build a 3570k with a GTX 660 for £680 on cyberpower, not cheap, but not bad value.

Does it really matter? If you are here, you are most likely not going to buy prebuilt. You either built it yourself or buy a custom PC.

    RIG: Intel 2500K @ 4.7Ghz + H60 P/P l AMD 6970 CF l 16GB Patriot Viper Xtreme @ 1866

    MSi P67-GD65 l Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD + Hitachi 1TB HDD l Silverstone RV02

    Corsair AX850 l Corsair Vengeance K90 + M90 l Windows 8 Pro l 2x AOC e2243Fw 1080p

Asus Xonar STX l Schiit Modi + Magni l Beyerdynamic DT880 + Audio Technica M50s

The other companies deal with hardware. But, there's only one source for Windows. When MS enters the PC hardware business. That will set off a lot of alarm bells.

    Edit:

Make that prebuilt PC business, not PC hardware.
