ForumsSystem Wars › Oculus Rift + PC = 'next generation cons ...

System Wars is a one of a kind destination where gamers can discuss, rant, and debate about systems, platforms, handhelds and the games. Not many people survive System Wars. The mightiest system warriors back up their arguments with facts.

Rules are simple:
- Read the Terms of Use and System Wars Survival Guide.
- Must be Level 10 or higher to create topics.
- Keep your discussions around what belongs here: platforms, games, developers, publishers, and stats.
- Don't quote more than one image in your post.
- Do NOT post or bump extremely abusive discussions (adult material/illegal activities/illegal advertising/etc).

Oculus Rift + PC = 'next generation consloles' are a joke

Some people experienced dizziness but this was only because you body and brain were still not used to it. While in game your eyes see that you actually move around and sending signals to your brain however your legs are not moving thus causing confusion and a mild dizziness but that's only the first few times you use it, after that your brain learns the experience and adopts. Judging by this... the immersion should be very realistic and good, if you can get your brain confused I'd say we're heading the right direction.

As far as if there's any vision damage, I don't know but no reports still about this issue. I think should be okay as soon as you ain't got any serious problems with your eyes from before.

People that say it's the same overrated as Kinect, they simply do not realise what we're talking about over here... man it's a new world!

I'm just not sure what kind of a social impact it might have... I'm afraid it might be very addictive... forget about people talking about WoW addiction etc... it's all gonna be a joke. I hope people won't be hooked that much and waste their lives in this VR worlds.

Some users that tried it stated that the experience was so intense that they got tired... I'm actually glad that your body reacts to it otherwise you'd be doing for hours and hours straight.

Also my personal future prediction... if the company behind Rift... will succeed in delivering and marketing it correctly trust me in a couple of years they gonna build a rich empire.

It needs some power certainly... creators admited. When creating VR in order for the exerince to be as realistic as possible you'll need a good GPU for all these details to be fully shown... yet the most important thing is latency and frame rate. You need to have high frame rates and as much as possible small latency otherwise you'll be seeing textures being drawn and rendered in front of you.

Also forgot to mention that with Oculus Rift games for first time will have true depth... until now it was all pseudo depth. Means your character and the world will have the correct size and structure according to anatomy.
