Absolutely. Best game in the Zelda series: Link to the Past. Best game in the Metroid series: Super Metroid. I rest my case.

    i'm split down the middle on this one;

Super Metroid is easily the best Metroid game, and its not even close, so I fully agree there, and prefer Metroid in 2D.

Zelda however, for me personally, is just as good if not better in 3D, specifically for "Twilight Princess" and "Ocarina of Time".

Metroid should never have tried anything but 2D.

Got to disagree with you there......the original Metroid Prime is one of the finest games EVER made, and Echoes is not too shabby.

Add me to the list of people who think Metroid Prime is better than Super Metroid. They both have the same cleverly-designed gameplay structure, but Prime has better atmosphere and better combat.

Now Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, Secret of Mana

My 100 favorite songs of All Time. And because I ran out of blog post space, here's the second part of the list.

Recent Reviews: Mother 3, Final Fantasy VII, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Because Super metroid doesn't have too many toasters. Super Metroid also realizes all toasters toast toast.

Also, why is Metroid Prime better to you?

It was more fun for me. The sense of exploration, discovery, secrets, open-world exploration all married to a perfect atmospheric environment and perfect soundtrack just made it the perfect experience. And it was quite polished. All the same can be said for Metroid Prime, though. However, one thing Super Metroid did better, for sure, was the controls. It did become awkward at times to look around, run, and shoot all the same time (like in boss battles) in Prime. But in Super Metroid, that was never an issue.

I could give the same description for MP,yes.

I never had a problem with the controls,GC controller was good for it.

Music is SOOOOO good. Metroid Prime comes close but not quite as good. The whole game is enjoyable and memorable. MEtroid Prime was amazing but had its moments (like finding the artifacts) of weakness, not to mention the scanner being annoying to have to use all the time to achieve 100%. And while MP1 is my favorite of MP1-3, MP2 had better bosses and puzzles. MP is a 9.5 for me and Super Metroid is a 10.

OH and the endings. Super Metroid has one of the best endings in gaming. Metroid Prime was a bit of a letdown at the end in my opinion.

Blueresident can't be 'just wrong' because it's entirely an opinion.

Metroid Prime was a good game, but unnecessary to me as a fan of the series. Super Metroid is and always will be the pinnacle of the Metroid series.

I feel both series were god-tier in the 2d status, with Metroid and Zelda once again reaching god-tier in their 3d iterations.

Can't pick. My favorite Metroid game would have to be Super Metroid though. I fcking love sequence breaking that game.
