Doubt it was staged, people like to make a conspiracy out of everything. Why would they be kicking and beating the living **** out of the guy like that if it was staged? It doesn't even look staged, the reactions and everything look far too authentic to be staged.
I like how he pushes the pistol away as if it were a squirt gun or other harmless device and then the assassin just stands there like "oh, okay" for a bit rather than pointing the gun at him again.
