Mass effect 3 ending question

So i just finished mass effect 3 and i dident get to choose destroy, merge or controll why? i destroyed it but had no options, also i dident see what happend to the normandy, when i look up the ending at youtube u can see crew members climbing out of the normandy, i also DL the extended cut but that never came either...

A: As to not being able to decide, it means that you didn't get enough war assets in order to get an ending to choose from. If your assets are below minimum, then the bad destroy ending is all you can choose.
B: As for the extended cut, did you download it before or after going to the Illusive Man's base? In order for the DLC to activate it, you need to have it installed before you go to the Illusive Man's base and using a save from before that point.
