The last 2 Leaf games have been 2 of the best I've seen in a while. Only negative: Reimer is hurt. For how long though, I don't know. Hopefully it isn't serious, but he couldn't even move his leg. He's has been excellent this season. Still big win, great job by Scrivens to shut the door on short notice. Oh and  @ Schenn on the JVR goal. Great to see the ACC so loud and giving them a standing O.

This team just seems...different. Every line is playing hard, the 4th line has had some great shifts lately, and the goaltending has been stellar...even though Carlyle has made some odd choices, most have worked..

They could just be giving us a false sense of hope like every other season.

But really, Carlyle has been excellent. I haven't seen a Leafs squad play like this since I was 9 years old, with the likes of Sundin, Roberts, Tucker, Mogilny, Joseph...

I really wish 2002 was our year. ):

So the NHL still doesn't hand out suspension for biting? And to my Leaf fans this is mostly frustration left from Burrows.

I'd be more in line for suspending Holzer for his boarding on McGinn than an alleged bite by Grabbo when Pacioretty was pulling him back by his face.

(Edit: That being said, I don't think Holzer's intent was to injure McGinn either, but it looked really bad.)

The NHL seems to be the most inconsistent league when it comes to punishment. You never know what to expect.

Wouldn't that make them consistent in being inconsistent? If there was proof of a bit, he'd be suspended. Since there isn't any, I'm fine with the no punishment. He'll get his eventually anyways. It's not like he'd escape retribution had he been suspended.

Terrible night for the Sens. Mechalek a last minute scratch with a lower body injury, and then lose Karlsson to a laceration to his Achilles...out 4-6 months. Also still without Spezza. Could be long year..

Obviously, it's because Brad Doty and Anze Kopidor have not been playing well....invisible out there.

But ya, looks like it. They got off to a slow start last year, but can't afford to do that this year.

I told a friend that when Spezza went down that Ottawa was fine because of Karlsson. Those achilles slices can end careers, wonder if Matt Cooke will get a suspension for that.

No. He has history, but if you watch the play unfold in regular time not super slow mo, then you'll see it's a play that happens 20+ times a night. It was just a freak accident. It's only because Cooke has a history of doing stupid stuff that this is blowing up. Had it been the other way around and Cooke had his achilles cut, we would be saying it's karma.

    -

I don't know why players aren't using the Kevlar socks? Sure they may not be 100% effective, but they probably could have saved Karlsson's season.

Also Cooke was trying to get better at that; He has been working with the League and trying to change how he plays so he wouldn't get anymore suspensions.

Also last night on NHL Tonight they said that there is a new sock that is flexible but it is 3 times more cut resistant then steel.

Cooke has gotten better at that aspect. I think I heard that over the past few years, he's received something like 30min in minor penalties per year. No majors.

I'm not sure which socks you're referring to, but these have been available for some time. Should be mandatory. I know hockey players are superstitious, but skate blades these days are beyond trusting cotton fabric to protect you. How many of these injuries have occurred recently? I mean skate cuts. I know I've seen a few wrists getting cut and several calves too.

Mitchell and Greene also have been out, they've won a lot of periods but haven't put the puck in the net.
