Honestly the experience you're looking for will probably be best on a console, for the most part a desktop computer is recommended for gaming. Whatever gear you have will be fine, if you can get your laptop to run anything. Please post the specs, if you could.

Well you need a mouse, but you probably already know that trackpads suck for games so I assume you use one.

I just wanted to know what other more experienced gamers like to use. I do have a desktop and 2 alienware laptops and prefer the laptops and is what I was wanting to know about mainly. Sorry for the disturbance I caused.

You really only need a keyboard and mouse. You can get a gaming mouse, but it isn't necessary. The wired xbox 360 controllers works well on computers for action adventure type games (not shooting ones). You can also use the wireless 360 controller but i think you need an adapter so its just easier to use the wired one. People who play alot of racing games also use a steering wheel, but I recommend it only if you are really into racing games and play them alot.

I've never used it, I just know that 360 controller works with the most games.
