Hi everyone, I've played the standard fantasy RPG's for years and am a little burned out on those, but I still love the RPG genre. I'm wondering what Scifi RPG's you guys really like, something with a good story preferably but not nessecary. I have Win 7 mid range setup if that helps. Thanks.

Yea I was going to say either Deus Ex or the Mass Effect series.

Edit: Somehow forgot about KOTOR. Easily my favourite Sci-fi rpg of all time, not so much action, but it is definitely my #1 Sci-fi game.

There should be more sci-fi adventure games. Syndicate when it was on sale $5 isn't too bad. I put in about 3 hours last night. I've tried it a few times and I just could not get into it but it's kinda fun this time around. I enjoyed the first boss fight. Games nowadays shy away from challenging boss fights. Reminds me of the first boss fight in Deus Ex HR. My favorite goes to Deus Ex: HR, easily. And then the Mass Effect series. Ya'll should give Hard Reset a try.

Mass Effect is definitely the first one that springs to mind. I'm thinking of playing through ME 2 again now.

Mass Effect 2 for its super fun combat. (though the 1st one was less "streamlined" and way more immersive.). Dead Space 1 is space-horror perfection. (haven't played the newer ones.). Deus Ex: HR was wonderful and since it didn't get hyped as much as some other big box titles, really floored me with how good it is! (And not to be a jinxy-jinx-it Johanne but a certain Polish game developer who made a game that rhymes with -- oh, let's say The Zitcher Voo -- is working on a sci-fi title. /happy dance.)

There are hardly any games that even fall into that category. Anways Deus Ex by a long shot. The original with texture mods and shifter.

This, you're being way too specific. Scifi rpg is a really underused combination of genre's nowadays.

Your choices are pretty much Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Borderlands, Fallout.

Remove the rpg requirement and you can probably find another few scifi shooters.

That's easy, Mass Effect Franchise hands down.

On a side note i could never get into Dues Ex: HR and after playing it only for an hour i put it down, after i beat Saints Row 3 i'm jumping right into Dues Ex again and giving it another chance, i think i'm going to enjoy it this time around.

    Yup, totally.

Well, besides the dozen or so games already mentioned (Fallout 1, 2, 3 and NV, Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3, KOTOR 1 and 2, Borderlands 1 and 2, Deus Ex 1, 2 and 3).

Oh, and the spy thriller Alpha Protocol.

Oh, and a bunch of classic PC titles like Wasteland, Blood.net, Sentinel Worlds, Megatraveller, etc.

Oh, and some modern indy titles like E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, the Star Wolves series, etc.

Oh, and upcomming games like the new version of Shadowrun.

Oh, and a bunch of MMOs like SWTOR, Eve, AO, Fallen Earth, Hellgate, Star Trek Online, etc.

    Yup, totally non-existent game category.

I wouldn't call either of those RPGs. Great games, but not really the same genre as games like Mass Effect or Deus Ex.

Idk, those games have some deeper RPG mechanics than the Mass Effect games, say. I guess if we're going by the modern definition of RPG meaning.... it must have romances and choices in cinematic dialog that lead to the same conclusion, then no, they're not RPGs.
