Not a big computer hardware guy, but I know that you should NEVER spend that much money on a computer you're just going to use to play videogames.

Would you spend $10,000 for a PS3 or Xbox? I know some would on release (I think someone paid $10k for a PS3 when it was first released in 2007), but those are crazy exceptions.

That $10,000 gaming PC will be pretty mediocre in about 2 years and guaranteed to be slow by 5 years.

And I hate that ridiculous case. Why can't they continue to make computer cases that look like high-end electronics and not a transformer or action figure?

Right, but let's talk realistically here. What games or apps seriously require a 690 SLI setup? Spending that kind of money right now is an incredible waste if you just want to have a good gaming rig.

i can see a 10k rig, if someone spent a ton of money on peripherals, like 3x dell ultrasharp 27 inch monitors. A kick ass sound system such as swan mk II that costs about $500. A subwoofer that pounds the floor. A chair that will cost $500, a $100 mouse and a $200 keyboard. The best lazer printer on the market. A computer desk that is an executives office furniture and costs $2000 by itself.
