Spec Ops: The Line. It's far from the best game to come out this year, but it's the only one I can think of that so sucessfully used video game tropes and common elements to its advantage and used the medium to tell a story in a way that only games could.

Probably Mists of Pandaria.
Everything else has been mad disappointing, but I'm playing Spec Ops: The Line right now, and that's very good. So we'll see once I finish it.

I havent played many 2012 games now that I think about it... but from the few ones I played probably Darksiders 2
I still have to play plenty though, when they come down in price. My country takes a LONG time to gets games prices down
