At the end when alfred is outside sitting at the table and he looks over and see's Bruce and selina sitting at the table together...Now did bruce survive and was actually there sitting at the table or was bruce dead and alfred was just imagining him there, being that alfred always wished for bruce to lead a normal life and be happy.?

He was sitting there. Engaged autopilot on the helicopter thingy and ejected before it exploded. Everyone in the city thinks that he is dead except for Alfred (since he's seen him).

    And Lucius.

    And Selina.

Near the very end of the movie Lucius finds out that someone updated the auto pilot on the ship.

    And Gordon.

Before or after the scene with Lucius, we see Gordon discovering that the Batsignal has been repaired.

That's assuming everyone in the world would remember/care what he looks like after his 8 year hiatus.

this isn't inception. Alfred wasn't dreaming or imagining things. I don't understand why people think that. They built up to it when they said the pearl necklace was missing and the autopilot being fixed.

No to mention Alfred didn't know about Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne having some sort of relationship.

He couldn't imagine something he was unaware of.

I think he ejected when he blew up the building while exiting the city. There really would have been no way to hide it any time else as the camera sticks with the 'Bat' through to the explosion. As someone else mentioned, it's not Inception. There was build up to this through the movie. Lucious mentioning the lack of auto pilot, Alfred bringing up his hopes for Bruce, the whole notion of a 'clean slate'. Then ramping things up with the missing necklace, new bat signal and the repaired auto pilot.

    -

"theatricality and deception are powerful agents for the uninitiated"

    -

Edit: Wrong on the ejection during explosion, we see him as he passes the bridge after blowing up the top of the building.

You do have to wonder how John Blake plans to prevent those kids from discovering the Batcave now that Wayne Manor's their home.

Looked to me like that was a new location. ***spoilers***

Batman had a straight jump through the waterfall in Begins. In TDKR Blake gets out of his car and turns right, if it was the same location, it would have been right in front of him.
