System Wars is a one of a kind destination where gamers can discuss, rant, and debate about systems, platforms, handhelds and the games. Not many people survive System Wars. The mightiest system warriors back up their arguments with facts.
Rules are simple:
- Read the Terms of Use and System Wars Survival Guide.
- Must be Level 10 or higher to create topics.
- Keep your discussions around what belongs here: platforms, games, developers, publishers, and stats.
- Don't quote more than one image in your post.
- Do NOT post or bump extremely abusive discussions (adult material/illegal activities/illegal advertising/etc).
So why do games need regen health?
- Nov 25, 2012 7:34 pm GMTCan someone explain it to me? How did "BLOODY SCREEN, SO REAL" become popular?

Pacing would be my guess. - Nov 25, 2012 7:36 pm GMT

Dat accessibility. I prefer health kits like in FEAR 1, except maybe not so plentiful and not an immediate health boost. They should take time to apply like in L4D2
You had health in Halo 1 that didn't regenerate. Your "shields" regenerated. to make them more stream-lined and easy.

Health packs are regenerating health. Doesn't really matter to me.

spend time worrying about health? why would we as gamers want that? I also gotta thank bioware for gutting the inventory system in mass effect 2 and dragon age 2.
I think we as gamers should have to manange anything and should simply focus on the action
- Nov 25, 2012 7:43 pm GMT

shouldn't ^^

And I thought that was a great design decision that worked exceptionally well. it's just that everyone tends to blame Halo for this, so... -
Pacing would be my guess.
It's the correct one.

Today's games still uses outdated health point system. Who cares.

The characteristics of sociopathy are mostly healthy and rational but people who exhibit them are considered deranged anyways because they contradict the social norm.Halo didn't even have regenerating health. It served two purposes: 1. Encourage you to use cover intelligently rather than sitting and soaking damage 2. Not screw you over if you reach a checkpoint at low health and forgot to save I find that it doesn't really make games easier. If anything it slows the pace down, as it encourages you to sit behind walls rather than go out and shoot.

Stupid people need health regen. Most of humanity consists of stupid people... so it is reasonable to assume that most gamers are also stupid. So, developers are just catering to the greatest common factor: stupid people.

would my soul burn if I got xbox one? W/E ps4 is the way to go, they are not be assholes kicking indie devs down

why do games need regen health. umm because they can, because maybe it's pointless go looking around for food. as long as it's not in a game like rpgs and stuff where it seems like it needs it then idc - Nov 25, 2012 7:52 pm GMT
i prefer health packs personally. it forces me to play more carefully. To be fair, im more of an RPG gamer, so it makes sense. Can you imagine if RPGs had rebounding health? :P - Nov 25, 2012 7:53 pm GMT
Health Regeneration when used correctly is a great mechanic. In games like Gears of War or Halo it works well within the universe of both respective series due to the technilogical and medical advancements in the games. In something like Call of Duty that is set in past or present time it does not.

It only regenerated outside of battle and if you used special moves, but it was still there sorta.
