Our pets give us unconditional love. That's why we grieve when they pass.

    You have my sympathy.

Any death is horrible, but I will admit it is pretty heart breaking losing a pet. We lost our dog who we had for 13 years in 2008. I am on my second dog who is 2.5 years, and I love that thing as if it was my kid. I dread the day my dog passes away, hopefully it is a long time from now though. I will say this if everybody was like a dog the world would be a much better place.
If everyone was like a dog then who the hell would've domesticated us? We'd be forming packs and killing each other over females, territory, and... food! I can totally see whatcha mean on that now.
I meant that in a way of how loving, selfish a dog is towards those close to them. Dogs are incredible animals in terms of loyalty, unconditional love. Name me one person that is like that. Dogs are incredible pets. They don't have the negative aspects of humans. They don't hold grudges, all in all incredible animals.

I've seen domesticated dogs form packs and roam out here cause they were all drop offs. I've seen them kill dogs chained up cause they were taking over that territory. What you think of dogs is actually a pet that has its food provided, it's shelter given, and as such its loyalty to the hand that gives it. That unconditional love can be given to someone who does all of that and for all means is a horrible cruel person to other people. The dog does not care.

So if we were just frank about it then it is easy to see that the world be a better place if everyone was like a dog. Unconditional love and loyalty if someone provides food and shelter. Dictators around the world would love that.

Selfishness is good and necessary for survival. A person who does not value his life has no motivation to live. Blind loyalty (common among dogs) is not something to admire. Unconditional loyalty means loyalty to whatever despicable cause that subject of your loyalty commits himself to.

Cats are virtuous because they are selfish and not loyal.

What makes you think that humans are so much more selfish or less loyal than other animals?

Definitely the saddest thing out there. Humans can die for all I care. Most of em are A- holes anyways and the world would be a better place without them. (I have a feeling someone reading this took offense to that) My bad.

And nothing of value was lost as that animal was turned into an 8 piece at popeyes/KFC with a side of fries and 2 liter beverage.

Oh uh, cry cry and stuff the animals.

It's not. I don't even remember if my cat died this year or last year. I think it was last. Anyway, losing someone you care deeply about hurts a lot more.

I remember pretty sad when my old cat died four years ago. I really wish we still had him around.

You should watch documentaries on cancer, illness patients, the Syria and Sri Lanka Civil war etc. Losing animals is sad yes but there is much more sadder things out there.

Most people don't care about random people that die. But most people will care if their pets die. I find this quite normal.

While I obviously value human life far more than animal life, I find this type of arrogant attitude disgusting. Animals deserve respect. Just because we're at the top of the food chain it doesn't mean we have the right to treat animals like dirt.

I honestly believe that centuries from now people will look at us and say "look how barbaric people were in the early 2000s, how they treated animals and the fact they actually had to kill animals for food. LOL how primitive", kinda of like what we think about common practices from 500 years ago.

yeah its pretty sad, but its important at the same time. If I have kids, I'm getting a pet ASAP and hopefully it will die before anyone they know (persons, I mean) does.

*hmmm that came out wrong. Hopefully you guys will understand what I mean. Don't want the pet to die, but its an important lesson in life and death for young people, without the more practical repercussions that a human loss has.
