ForumsSystem Wars › Games are not even out and already annou ...

System Wars is a one of a kind destination where gamers can discuss, rant, and debate about systems, platforms, handhelds and the games. Not many people survive System Wars. The mightiest system warriors back up their arguments with facts.

Rules are simple:
- Read the Terms of Use and System Wars Survival Guide.
- Must be Level 10 or higher to create topics.
- Keep your discussions around what belongs here: platforms, games, developers, publishers, and stats.
- Don't quote more than one image in your post.
- Do NOT post or bump extremely abusive discussions (adult material/illegal activities/illegal advertising/etc).

Games are not even out and already announcing DLC...

If you don't buy it, eventually they'll stop making it. Simple as that!

Don't buy games new. Wait a year and pick up the GOTY edition. All patches have been released, all content in one place, no hassle, cheap ! Easy gaming!

Halo 4 has been out since September 26? Jeez, they could have told us about it back then...

I just want to say--again--something I have said many, many times before: Dispel the notion that a game starts at a 10, and gets points "docked" from it. That would be a really silly way to review a game.

Game reviews aren't mathematical logarithms. They are the result of an experience that makes an impression on the mental and emotional superhighway of the game reviewer. I don't have a spreadheet that starts with a 10 and has calculations built in, where "low frame rate" = a .25 hit to the score. It doesn't work that way, and thank God for that.

On the other hand, many games are coming with more content out of the box than in the past.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our goal for Unreal Engine 4 console-wise is next-gen consoles. If you want to make a Wii U game, we have Unreal Engine 3. Mark Rein-Epic Games

Games go gold(are completed) usually about a month before the game actually releases. So some developers might make DLC within that month.

DLC, a useful feature if implemented correctly. Unfortunately its just seen as a cash cow buy the devs, sad but true.

If it is on disc DLC and the only way to get it is buying the dlc then yes I generally have a problem with it. Some developers are known for that such as Capcom. There are cases were it is not as bad though

1- If it is DLC that comes free with new owners I do not have as much a problem with it. The DLC though imo has to be fluff and not necessary to any part of the game even if it is just the story but instead just more game. I understand the need to encourage new buyers with the used market so big.

2-large games that go through quality control so the game can go gold takes a lot of time and they can not add to the game during that point. Instead of just doing nothing they work on new content. They can put together a 4 to 5 dlc while waiting since most of the assets they would use are already done from the main game.

An excellent advice, works on almost all big releases with plenty of DLC, they all eventually get the "Complete edition"!

I no longer buy games new or when they come out. I wait for complete editions and price drops. I'm sick of buying broken games on release and DLC. Game companies can kiss my ass with their tactics to milk us.
