Testing for allergies?

My mom recently found out she is allergic to Morphine and wants to get me tested for Morphine allergies. How will they test me for it? I heard they just inject a small dose of it into your body but somehow I find that unlikely..

Annie are you OK? So Annie are you OK? Are You OK Annie?

I've been tested twice.
What they did each time was marm m arm (with a pen) and then put a corresponding drop of each thing they're testing for next to its name. Then they used a small needle to get in in to my veins. About 20 small pinpricks. If it reacted, they they deem you allergic.
It is a little tedious having the needle go in your arm so many times, but honestly, it hurts less than getting a regular shot from your doctor.

The stars decline to hold the line...I don't know about testing for a single allergy, but when I had a full allergy test, they rubbed like 100 cotton swabs impregnated with whatever substance in a grid patter on my back and then took a straight pin and poked in the middle of each spot. Then they just watch for a reaction on the skin.
That was environmental allergies though, not sure about medicinal ones.

they might inject you with a small amount of morphine and monitor you to see if there are any adverse effects.
if they dont do the grid thingy anyways.

One of my friends has a family history of fish/shellfish allergies so they had a seafood picnic outside on the hospital lawn to do an allergy test. Maybe you can try something similar.

Set up an appointment with an allergist and let them know what you wanted to be tested for. They will do the proper test to determine if you are actually allergic to morphine. I had the scratch test on my back and were tested for around a hundred different allergens. With some tests inconclusive, interdermals were peformed on my arm where they injected the allergen under the skin. The reaction was then catagorized as to severity. This is similar to what will be done for you.
