    http://kotaku.com/5955131/chinese-grandma-tries-to-shut-down-a-microsoft-event-then-things-get-ugly

Microsoft was holding a midnight event to present their smartglass thing in Beijing China, when an elderly couple showed up to complain about the extremely loud music keeping the neighbordhhod awake. Seeing they were being ignored, the old lady decided to step on the stage where dancers were performing and start waving her hands in protest.

That's when a handful of security men showed up and energically shoved her off the stage, followed by her husband, after which they manhandled her so roughly the woman fell over to the floor.

Ok, I know this is China and I know they didn't really have any chance to stop the event, but f*ck: Microsoft should consider screening their security personnel a bit better instead of hiring thugs.

There is absolutely nothing in that video that is even close to "beat up". Talk about sensationalism. They pulled her off stage with the LEAST amount of force necessary. They didn't do any sudden "jerks" or anything. What did you want them to do? Shut off all the music and have a quiet chat? It's obvious she wasn't going to listen, as she pulled and tugged like a child. That's what security guards are hired for. To take people off the stage who don't belong there.

Even when they took her off, she kept fighting, and that led to her falling. She pulled free from a guard and fell on her own. Judging by their actions and mannerisms, they weren't trying to hurt her. Look at when the team helps her up. Notice how they don't immediately detain her? Or grab her in an arm lock? Also, the husband grabbed a chair. He was probably gonna use it as a weapon. How do you think they should've handled it?

I knew this was coming -__- Just to get this out of the way: where I come from, a group of men shoving an old woman aside and pushing her to the floor qualifies as beating up.

They could have handled it much better in any case, instead of rushing and grabbing her, scaring her to death and causing her to fight back, they should have tried to calm her down and ask her to step off the stage before pushing her off.

It's an OLD LADY, for f*ck's sake, not a man with a baseball bat.

Except they never pushed her to the floor. Or shoved her. Did you even watch the video? Like I said before, they pulled her offstage with the least amount of force necessary. What did you want them to do? Have a discussion in the middle of the stage?

Of course they should have tried to talk her down before rushing and grabbing her -__-

Where do you live? Nazi Germany?

Talking her down in the middle of a stage with the music blaring. Real smart. Let's just shut off all the music of this thousand dollar event, delay the dance group past closing time, etc etc.

I guess every other concert in the world is Nazi Germany according to you. Wow.

You're joking. You are comparing a drunk hooligan to an old woman complaining about the noise at midnight in a public square?

You've got a case of ageism. I volunteer at a retirement home, and lemme tell you, the old women can beat up the caregivers as well as any young man. They saw a woman disturbing the show, so they took her off the stage. That's all there is to it. Her reasoning for being there is irrelavent to how they took her off.

I guarantee you, every other large concert/show/event would do the same thing. And apparently, they're all Nazi Germany according to you.

Ok, I see your point, but what you said makes no sense in this particular context: the woman didn't even so much as hint at any sort of hostile or aggressive behavior. It was an invasive but peaceful protest. The way security reacted was overkill, by grabbing and seizing her like that they ensured a self defense reaction which culminated in her falling down which, as you know, could have caused injury to a senior like her.

They did not try to find a peaceful solution, they went straight for the grab.

Regardless of all this, comparing this situation to a concert invasion is crazy.

*Shrugs* All they did was hustle her off the stage. Based on the topic title I thought they gave the couple a beating. Jump up on a stage for anything higher than a school play, security isn't going to start a dialogue with you, they are going to quickly get you off the stage so the event can continue.

They literally pulled her off the stage as lightly as they could. The only reason she fell is because she pulled harder trying to get back on than they were pulling her off.

If you're a young man, yes. But an old woman? I disagree with the method.

Ask yourselves: if it was your mother or gradmother in that situation, would you still say security behaved correctly? Maybe you'd even call her to scold her, huh?

For a second, I thought the title said "Microsoft security essentials beats up chinese elderly couple".

I like how the girls kept dancing despite all that.

Anyway, nothing to see here folks. They were interfering with the event, and duly removed from the stage.

Of course, they are responsible for their own actions. If they want to act like a fool I expect them to be treated the same as anyone else.

A young guy would have been tackled and cuffed. The guards merely hustled the old woman off the stage.

Have you ever seen or heard of event security for a live performance telling the perfomers and the audience to wait while negotiations take place?
