Jim Daopoulos, a long-time official and supervisor of officials, joined NBC this season. And he tells PFT that the NFL and NFL Referees Association have signed a new deal.

A crew is being assembled to work Thursday nights game between the Browns and Ravens. Then, on Friday, the officials will travel to Dallas to retrieve their equipment and receive their game assignments for Sunday and Monday, with the same crews working together as last year.

Details are still not clear, but Daopoulos says that the much-debated pension issue was resolved with the current defined-benefit plan remaining in place for five years before switching to a 401(k)-style defined contribution plan.

Also, its believed that the deal will cover five more years before this one, which means that well potentially be doing this again in 2018.

UPDATE 10:56 p.m. ET: Daopoulos has provided some more facts. The officials will vote on the deal in Dallas on Friday, at which time it will become final. Theyll then participate in a clinic, and head on Saturday to the game sites. Also, the officials will receive a pay raise of four percent, with 12 guaranteed game checks this year and 19 in subsequent years (including preseason). As to the checks theyve missed this year, the officials will divvy up $2.5 million.

Yea the replacement refs were starting to be taken advantage of by smarter coaches. It is good to see the old Refs back.

I am extremely excited. As a Packers fan I was not pleased at all with that call on MNF! I'm over it now of course, but want the integrity back in the game. Those refs we're just horrible, also heard they got fired from the LFL which is extremely embarassing lol.

Old refs will mistake too but at least they know the rules.

And on the seventh day, God rested. Having created the heavens and the Earth, the seas and all they contain, He ceased all labors. But the seventh day being a Sunday, and with all of His fantasy teams playing, He needed a shortstop. So God created Derek Jeter, and blessed him, and said unto him, be fruitful. And Jeter was good. Jeter held dominion over opposing pitchers (.343 AVG in 2006), was plentiful in power (14 HR and 97 RBIs), and moved over the earth (34 steals) and across home plate (118 runs). And God blessed Jeter, and sanctified him, and said to Roto owners everywhere, make Jeter your No. 1 middle infielder.

Old refs will mistake too but at least they know the rules.

Getting a deal done so quickly of course had NOTHING to do with the MNF fiasco.

That was my first thought! Haha! I am now very thankful for the fiasco that was the MNF game. As horrible as it was, it certainly helped push this forward much quicker than it was going.

I don't think anybody thought getting the "real" refs back would mean no issues, but it would certainly mean a lot less issues and less stupid/obviously bad calls being made.

We always seem to be on the winning end of questionable calls, don't we? Anyways, so long as we keep winning it don't matter. If Cutler can pull it together and get out of this funk then the call will be an afterthought for us.

Fact. My problem wasn't that they were making bad calls, it is that they didn't have a handle of the rules. Couldn't control the game.
