Painkiller: Hell And Damnation [HD Remake of Painkiller 2004]
- Sep 17, 2012 12:07 am GMTCommunication using human language has the sole purpose of finding ways to program into the subroutines of people's minds the subliminal message of "How can I help you, help me?".

From the guys that brought us Necrovision, we finally get COOP in Painkiller :D No nonsense, pure gameplay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlU82-DOUZ0&hd=1&t=5s If you pre order it you get access to the beta, it looks better than the PK expansions, that's for sure: http://store.steampowered.com/app/214870/- Please wait. Well this is the first Painkiller I'm actually interested in since the original one, the others weren't that great.
Looks like a great remake, although it's really lazy of them they are still using the same weapon models from 8 years ago.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.

It does have a Calculator key, though.
I understand this is build on UE3 and it looks basass. I played the original Painkiller, it was absolutely awesome. Would love to have an HD version of it.

"A modern remake of classic shooters, Painkiller and Battle Out Of Hell"? Why? I was replaying Painkiller last week and it was just fine. I guess the addition of coop is cool though.
A decent sequel (or spiritual sequel) would have been much better.

- Sep 17, 2012 5:57 am GMT$20, could be worse for a remake I guess. While I enjoyed Painkiller I'm not sure I'd be up for a remake.

- Sep 17, 2012 11:50 am GMTNow playing: Metro Last Light (PC), Anomaly 2 (PC), Claw (notebook)
Played the Beta level. Fun game, but I don't think that a remake was necessary as the original is still very playable.

The first one was made by a polish studio called People Can Fly, after Painkiller they worked on Bulletstorm and are now working on GoW: Judgment.
The other Painkiller games (that weren't as good) and this one are not made by them.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.
Didn't know, took them for granted :P, then I was disappointed and forgot about them, for this new game however, it should be irrelevant since they took the game, made more advanced models, better textures, things that shouldn't ruin a great game, at least from that video it makes it feel fresh and exciting while keeping the exact same game.

I didn't play the latter Painkiller games (just the first one and the first expansion made by PCF) but from what I gathered the problems lay in them making the levels to narrowed and in a game like this you need a lot of space to manouvre/run/jump/strafe around your enemies and shoot them.
Now all they need to do is remake the first one and its levels in better graphics as you said and keep the gameplay unchanged, then this might be really good.
If you haven't played Bulletstorm, give it a try ;)real shame it won't get a sequel...

I did play Bulletstorm and I loved it, kept avoiding it because of all the trailers with mindless swearing and such, got it on a sale and it was one of the best and most fun FPSs I played, ever.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.
