Well, don't buy it if you don't have a controller.
Disable AA and Blur, enable AA trough your control panel for better performance. That's what you need to know about the PC version.

Can't you just enable the HD mod that was released?

Seems like it could be a good game, but has a lot of problems.

If you can handle the problems with the port and have a controller, its an amazing game.

Yep, get a controller and the game works fine. install the res mod and all is good. It's just as quirky as the stalker games which were notorious for the poorly optimized x-ray engine.

Dark souls with mouse and keyboard works GREAT.

I just beat the first few bosses with kb/m without dying once and if you change a few keys it works almost better than a controller. Hold LShift for blocking, mouse buttons for quick / heavy atk, F for lockon, Space for sprint + dodge, E for use items, Q for actionbutton.

It's FINE. You do NOT need a controller.

You just need an attention span larger than 3 seconds to change some keybindings.

You should get a controller regardless. They're great for a lot of games.

It's good on PC now that resolution and DoF are fixed.

Of course I use a controller.

Gameplay is a bit sluggish and there are fps drops no matter what rig you have.

And the game does not support 16:10 ratio monitors so I get black bars on the top an bottom.

Screenshots used 2560x1600 resolution downsampled and3840x2160 DoF.

Right click an image and press the "i" key to view it in it's original resolution.

Dark Souls is probably the best RPG (of any kind, action or not) released this generation. Having said that, I don't recommend buying the PC version. Most of the complaints you hear about the PC version aren't even taking into consideration the long-term issues this port will have. And these issues are the most important.

Irregardless of what you have heard. Dark Souls is very much so a multiplayer game. It won't be long before the PC version is flooded with twinks and hacked characters that will make the game unplayable for most people. If you plan to play the game online (which is a huge aspect of the game), think twice before buying the PC version.

Pure and simple lies. The game is a single player game with an online component, and not once have I been invaded by a hacked character. This is no different from the tons of online games on pc with hacks and cheats.

I am using 3840x2160 downsampling on a 1440p monitor and it's look great now that the DoF is fixed. I love being able to actually seeing textures/detail in the armor instead of that hazy blur that was in the console version

How in the world are you dealing with that busted mouse camera control? Its literally the only thing holding me back from enjoying it with a kb&m.
