Sick of these PS3 freezes.

    So occasionally my PS3 freezes, and when it does it's mostly on MW3.

    But it just froze out of no where on LBP2. I wasn't even doing anything, and it froze. The worse part is that I need to manually shut it down.

    I press the Power button than it flashes for about 5 seconds beeps and turns off.

    When I turn it back on, it says the PS3 didn't shut down, and I need to do a check and restore file system.

    This is ridiculous, why does this happen so often. My PS3 freezes much more than I think it should. It happens a least 2-3 times a week depending how often I play. And then I need to do this restoration.

    2 days ago I was playing MW3, and it froze, so I turned it off, when I turned it back on, my save file was corrupt. I really hope this doesn't happen with any other games..... What do I do, is this normal for anyone else?

    Reinstalling the game data for the ones that you experience freezes during gameplay might help.

    If it makes you feel any better, mine freezes during certain games as well, and has done since I bought it back when Uncharted 2 was released. I have the 250 GB slim model. Sometimes I can play a few different games without a single freeze, but there are some games that it will freeze an annoying amount of times and sometimes even make me do the whole check and restore thing.

    I don't think there is much you can do. Mine is still going and it has done a fair bit of work, if it craps itself I will worry about it when the time comes.

    [/QUOTE]If it makes you feel any better, mine freezes during certain games as well, and has done since I bought it back when Uncharted 2 was released. I have the 250 GB slim model. Sometimes I can play a few different games without a single freeze, but there are some games that it will freeze an annoying amount of times and sometimes even make me do the whole check and restore thing.

    I don't think there is much you can do. Mine is still going and it has done a fair bit of work, if it craps itself I will worry about it when the time comes.

    Clean your disc with window cleaner and a paper towel. Prob solved.

    Can your PS3 'breathe'? If it has an aura of space and it's freezing then yep your hardware may be on its way out. However, all systems freeze sometimes.

    The only freezes I've ever really had are when I'm using the Internet browser.

    I had the same problem so I actually sold my PS3 to get a new one... Fixed nothing and it still freezes all the time, its just the Playstation 3 for you! Dont waste your time calling me a fanboy or whatever, im a PS3 gamer.

    I've had a few games prone to freeze, and then I can play other games for weeks/months without experiencing a single crash/freeze. I wouldn't judge it playing just MW3. However if you keep playing different games, and all of the games freeze multiple times. Then maybe it could be a pre-cursor to YLOD. A freeze doesn't automatically mean your PS3 is on it's way out though. Sometimes the software just sucks, and even a "healthy" PS3 can freeze if you play a really long gaming session and it gets too hot. Most of my freezes have come after playing like 4 or 5 or more hours, and at that point I should probably just take a break from gaming anyway...

    My PS3 has probably froze at least 100 times across many games, though mostly from the Fallout games, namely the GOTY Edition. I think it's usually the game more than anything else.

    Mine only freezes during Battlefield 3, so it may just be a problem with MW3. I also have a slim model and it almost froze once during Skyrim, so I think it depends on the game in some cases.

    I haven't had that problem yet, my disks are always clean and dust free.

    Yeah mine does it, playing bf3. I guess i will see how darksiders 2 goes in a week...

    Only stupid question is "whats a muffler bearing for"...
