So I am a huge gamer, have been almost my entire life. I usually stick to single player games because that is just how I roll, but recently I got my boyfriend into gaming when he tried out Resident Evil 5 and he loved it. He loves that fact that we can play co-op together throughout the storyline and it is a good bonding experience for the both of us. We have nearly completed the game and he asked me if I knew of any other games that have co-op like this so that we could enjoy together. I ask you, the Gamespot community, what good PS3 co-op games are out there for my boyfriend and I to play? Anything, but Anime style games will do (he doesn't really care for anything Anime).

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One has good local multiplayer, and it isn't too hard for novices.

Pretty much all games nowadays have some sort of co-op feature. Ratchet and Clank: All 4 one, Army of two series, Borderlands, etc., are some games that offer a co-op style single player.

Okay I will check those games out! Thanks guys! I have been trying to get him into gaming for awhile now and slowly, but surely I am easing him into it. I didn't know Borderlands had two player co-op through the story! I will definitely have to pick that one up!

Oh I forgot to mention the games have to have splitscreen co-op. Do these games have that?

i don't really play muilt player games so i can't give out to many choices and off the top of my head all i can think of is the warrior series like dynasty warrior/ samurai warrior some people love the games some hate them, but they are split screen and i guess it can be good bonding to kill hundreds of enemies together in the name of your lord.

Study strategy over the years and achieve the spirit of the warrior.Today is victory over yourself of yesterday;tomorrow is your victory over lesser men.

Not sure if my boyfriend would be into the lego games (I usually play them with my little brother though ) The warrior series could be an option, though I am not sure if he would be into it. I was thinking L4D2 or something along those lines as well, even though I own it on Steam already I figured he would like to play it on PS3. I am not sure if it is splitscreen though. More games need to have splitscreen or at least have a TV link or something so that two players on the same console can use seperate TVs.

You could give Dungeon Siege III a try. The Lego games are also good ones.

There's not too much good split-screen co-op this gen. Devs gear co-op experiences often to the online multiplayer crowd because an enormous chunk of the players go online.

There are a few here and there, as some people have mentioned, but it's not like the older gens. I'd hate to mention Lego Star Wars.

the games from LEGO series are good, but as mentioned above, your boyfriend can not like because the game is made for children.

Games I have that have local co-op are...

    - Lost planet 2 (Co-op up to 4). Lost planet 3 is coming out soon-ish and I believe will be co-op as well. - Ratchet and Clank all 4 one. This was free on psp in June i think, when they switched to the digital library. it is cool to have a game that's co-op and not a shooter. - Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days- This seemed like a pretty basic over the shoulder co-op. I did enjoy it though.
    - Army of Two: 40th day. I liked this better than Kane and Lynch, but was very similar.
    - Resistance 1 & 3. For some reason they didnt make the 2nd one co-op. which sucks...
    - RE5- you mentioned that you have this, so it's kinda redundant but I'll put it on the list anyways. Worst part about co-op on this one is the way they split the screens.
    - Borderlands- I saw someone mention this. best co-op game I have! The 2nd will be released soon and will also be co-op from what I understand. - Twisted Metal (2012)- The new twisted metal's story is completely playable co-op I found this one to be very fun co-op, but a little short. I'm sure there are more than this, this is just what I have...

Any Lego game and Little Big Planet game. These are two ive played extensively with my wife. Other games we have played together include Lara Croft Guardian of Light, Tales From Space About a Blob, Wipeout HD, Rayman Origins, Borderlands (she liked it suprisingly since FPS are not her favs), Dead Nation.
