Just a heads up, it may be a glitch or a rogue moderator, but certain users comments are being deleted from articles and blogs.

These aren't moderations, just simple deletions.

I'm one of the users experiencing removal of comments from older articles and blogs.

Also, although this sort of deleting posts occurrences happened with the old commenting HTML system and posts in forums, this new facebook purchased system these deletions seems to have increased in occurrence. I'm not sure what kind of safeguard you have against a single user going through and deleting comments, but one should be put in place if there is no safeguard against that kind of behaviour.

Well, sometimes the Spam filter for the Commenting System is a little aggressive. It is a little sensitive, and sometimes we have to manually investigate what's going on.

Anyways, if you have specific accounts you would like me to check into, I'd be more than happy to investigate. If you don't want them displayed publicly though, just shoot me a PM.

Would the Spam filter go through old comments from older articles and blogs as well?

You can check this specific account and if that goes well I'll tell the other guys and gals that were affected.

I may have some of the links as well where the comments were deleted, although I didn't record all the links as I noticed this issue over the course of about six to nine months. I didn't keep a record of every article with deleted comments I stumpled upon. I just figured I may as well communicate while I had a second because if it is someone doing it others will at least be aware of the situation.

I also wonder how the Spam Filter would work as I don't typically spam and I usually post things of substance. Thanks for looking into this particular issue nonetheless.

Well, according to my observations, it looks like all your comments are visible.

Are there any specific examples you would like me to check into?

Okay, I didn't have time to look at the various examples I've come across over the last year, but here's one I just stumbled upon right now. I saw it and shrugged, and then I remembered I actually took the time to tell you guys about this problem, so now I'm posting it. Over the course of months/year I would just see this and wonder why/who? Since I did remember this problem, here's a link. The article isn't too old, it's from Nov 2011.

    LINK.

You can see a user (ShadowofSonic, about the 10th post down from top) is talking to me with an "@", and clearly I'm just gone. Who knows how many comments were deleted where I wasn't in an active discussion to point this out, you know?

This isn't the only one, it's just an example of a more major concern happening here and there in articles/blogs across the site. This may continue with other users, if it hasn't already, if this is deliberate. It's a big 'if', but one still that shouldn't be ignored.

    Thanks for your time.

I see exactly what you are talking about. I find it strange that your comment doesn't appear.

Do you have any more examples so that maybe we could find a pattern here of what's missing?

I know I said this before, but I'm super busy in RL. I've noticed these removals for months/year(s) but I didn't save links as I'm very busy and frequent many web sites.

However, just now I ran across Six more links showing these deletions. It's tough because I have to find links that have my posts removed and also find users quoting me. It's really hard on the user to find these infractions, as we don't have the proper tools. Still, I did find these :

    ------------

If someone (a moderator ? ) is behind these deletions / actions, that very same person(s) would also now be aware that we are aware of these activities...although with no repercussions suffered, they probably aren't too worried. I did notice other Gamespot.com users removed as well, but in the interest of keeping things neat, I'll stick with my removals for now.

Either way, I hope you find a name and pattern involved. It's all so strange. Thanks for your time so far.

It's unlikely that it's a moderator specifically deleting your comments, I'm trying to dig back to check and see what may have happened to the comment as all of your permissions appear to be fine. As it was said earlier, in the beginning stages of the Livefyre commenting system, it was once very sensitive and would often flag things that did not need to be flagged. However many changes have been made to help fix that issue. I did notice that a few of your comments had been auto bozo'd by the system so I went ahead and restored them.
