ForumsSystem Wars › What does Call of Duty have to do to win ...

System Wars is a one of a kind destination where gamers can discuss, rant, and debate about systems, platforms, handhelds and the games. Not many people survive System Wars. The mightiest system warriors back up their arguments with facts.

Rules are simple:
- Read the Terms of Use and System Wars Survival Guide.
- Must be Level 10 or higher to create topics.
- Keep your discussions around what belongs here: platforms, games, developers, publishers, and stats.
- Don't quote more than one image in your post.
- Do NOT post or bump extremely abusive discussions (adult material/illegal activities/illegal advertising/etc).

What does Call of Duty have to do to win you back?

I haven't even thought about playing a Call of Duty game since CoD2. Just not particularly interested in the whole genre. Black Ops 2 looks more interesting to me than anything else they've done in years, so I may actually check it out someday. Trent Reznor doing the music is pretty damn huge. Every now and again I get the urge to play something generic but mindlessly satisfying. That music definitely puts Black Ops 2 high up on the list next time I get that urge.

What is love? Baby, don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No more.

Personally, i want the killstreaks to be vastly different for Black Ops 2 this time around. I am sick and tired of the typical uva, cuav, helicopter, carpet bombers. I want more, funner killstreaks. And the perks are getting too copy pasty, change them, do something different! I want the same arcade style shooter, with 60 FPS, i just want it vastly different each time around.

    Now you.

It could have a better campaign for one. MW2 and 3 had super crappy stories. (I mean, c'mon, shootouts in America in the suburbs and the scene climaxes at a fast food place? Can it not get worst? Then there was MW3 which brought back Soap and felt like Homefront reboot)

It should actually be "historic" for one because I'm not crazy about playing "make believe" anything. The old COD's were based off WW2, now the new ones are based off what exactly? Couldn't one be based off Vietnam or Desert Storm or something interesting? Of course not.

The graphics could use fine tuning also. There are lots of things COD should have that it doesn't. Which is why I prefer Battlefield.

People bash me for wanting developers to cater to my own needs but you... Holy sh!t....

Must be nice to have the kind of free time to sink 50+ hours on a game, but you're missing two important factors: my $60 spends just the same for the developers as anyone else's, and I don't expect developers to cater to my wishes. I just buy their product, or don't.

First of all I want to see only one developer making this series not 10 or so developers working on the same franchise with yearly rehashes.

    (2-4 year release time frame.)

    New game engine.

[Something that can be competitive against other game engines like Source, Havok, Unreal Engine 4, Cry Engine 3, Luminous Engine (Square Enix), etc.]

I want to see stopping power on that way there will be less panic knifers.

I want to see dedicated servers.

I want more modding tools that are available to the public instead of endless DLC.

    Bigger maps.

    More players per match.

    [24 players and above.]

Go back to the original COD4 kill streaks.

(ex: UAV [3], Air Strike [5], Chopper [7], etc.)

Increased bullet damage that will eliminate most of the campers from their hidding spaces.

More open world game play for both single player and multiplayer.

    Get rid of death streaks.

Get rid of Ghost, Last Stand, etc.

    That's all I want.

Compared to other shooters (like Halo and BF for example) COD has them already beat in terms of SP, it's campaigns always have good quality, some of them are short, but they are still fun, most other FPS games (again like Halo or BF) have boring and medicore SP.

In terms of MP COD has a ton of features which is great, it's not the best FPS in terms of it's game play, but I enjoy it. Great fun with friends. I would like to see some changes, but overall I'm satisfied with COD and am looking forward to BO2, which IMO will be the best FPS of this year.

Though I think Far Cry 3 has the most potential as far as SP goes. Don't worry about COD though, your all going to buy BO2 and you know it. COD is the game everyone pretends to "hate" but they all play and keep buying.

I'm open about it, I'm not a hypocrite like some other people on here....

I always enjoy COD games, even though since COD4 they all gave me that 'deja-vu' feeling, specially when it comes to mp...a few minor changes ain't enough..

However their sp campaigns though short are always action packed and fun, and mp can get addictive.... lets see what they have planned for us with Black Ops 2

    SYSTEMS:- PC /PS3 / XBOX360 / Wii / PSV / PSP / DS

    PC SPECS:-
    Intel Core i5 2500k (oc @ 4.2Ghz), ASUS Motherboard, Gigabyte HD6970 2GB, Dominator 8GB DDR3 RAM,Tagan 780W PS, 1TB HDD, ANTEC Case & Razer Accessories

Seriously? Maybe if you don't buy many games so you put all your game time in to those few games. I could count the amount of games I've put 50 hours in to in my entire life on two hands. 50 hours is a LOT of game time for one game.

Have a strong singleplayer campaign that doesn't play like a poor light gun game where you spend more time shooting the same boring targets, following another characterless soldier to the next scripted movie sequence in between. Work out its tone and direction. Po-faced and stupid man-gruff-soldier drama doesn't work when everything that happens is stupidly absurd and and teeming with more testosterone then a He-Man and Man-at-Arms duo cartoon. Lighten up or actually be a bit more compelling in the grimdark.

Do something with the engine so there can more complex game modes and level designs, Quake 3 roots are still showing their age.

Do something with the multiplayer that either makes it even more absurd and customisable - perks, options and all, or properly balanced.

Feature much, much better multiplayer maps that don't focus on the dull horizontal playing field and kill corridors; it's a shame considering how inventive COD map design really was in the past. Feature BLOP's XP levelling system, or something that removes the disgusting grind.

Honestly what comes to mind was Tribes and its loadout system. The interchangeable weapons, packs, grenades, armour and so on was pretty cool. Light classes could vary from flag runners to base disabling ninjas, spotters, harassers snipers and so on with each armour set and variety. No 'perks' so to speak, but pretty distinct customisation and focus on the personalisation.

No painting your gun tacticool purple though, with a XxXpR0_sK1llz_hRdS(+)pEXxX weed sig, and a wicked sick skull scope. Nonetheless cosmetics are nice, as hilarious as they are in the recent COD games.

Though it really only kicked off in the mainstream post COD4, that's for certain.
