why do people say battlefield 3 look better than gears of war 3?

i don't understand......gears 3 looks alot more cleaner than battlefield on 360...my friends preach to me about how battlefield 3 stomps gears, but i see different

They are both really good-looking console games can't we just leave it at that?

not counting pc how is it even possible for a big open map game to look better than a narrow little corridor game?

that is not an insult to gears just an observation of how the universe works. less environment to animate = better looking game.

Bulletstorm PC (maxed out) looks better than Gears 3 and BF3 PC looks better than Bulletstorm PC.....at least to me.

As for the console version of either game, both still look decent..... it's a coin toss on which one looks better.

Gears3 looks better then the PC version imo. I'n BF3 I can't see past the super-nova sun, tac lights, washed out color, blue-greenish tint , and dark edges. Jebus213

that's because BF 3 looks much better on PC. On consoles,though, Battlefield 3 looks like **** don't say anything because I am not a PC gamer...for the time being)

Console vs Console speaking, because PC wouldn't be a contest... Gears looks better overall, but has small enviroments in SP and MP, no physics and no destruction. Battlefield has 24 players (on consoles), maps that are much much much bigger, and fully destructible enviroments, with a bunch of ways to destroy them. Gears may have better textrues or something, but Battlefield is a hell lot more impressive. Now, don't get me started on the PC version of Battlefield...

I'll have to agree with this... BF3 has quite impressive graphics considering the extend of it's environment and everything running at the same time. It's quite impressive though both to me look similar from what i've seen BF3 takes it for it's performance.

Its sad when even apocoliptic games like Fallout 3 have better use of color than the Gears games.

Gears 3 improved in that aspect, but its still terrible to look at.

I thought MGS4 had a worse color palette. It makes Gears 3 look downright colorful.

I'm referring mainly to the color palette. Is there any way those characters models could have both great detail and a decent color palette? It looks to me one was sacrificed for the other.

both games are generic shooter garbage so who cares?

I think Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 look on par. At this point, many console games look very good, so its more of a matter of opinion.

I guess it's more a matter of taste. The MGS4 details look fine. But, I like more vivid colors in my games. In my game inventory, ARMA 2 has a similar problem with the palette. But, most of my other games have decent color palettes:

On the console side, I'm quite partial to the Uncharted series, esp UC2.

I think Gears 'looks' better, but BF3 has 'way' better graphics... it's the art style that's horrendous.

Gears is probably more fun too (don't own a 360 :(), I hate military shooters, and regret buying BF3, good thing Tribes is free!
